with spider-man homecoming coming out im struggling trying to decide which format would be superior.
if i got the 4k i would never watch the blu ray that comes with it, maybe just for the special features the blu ray is kinda wasted when you have a 4k copy. if i got the 3d copy then the blu ray would be watched when not in the mood for 3d so both disc are useful thinking 3d mite be the top format for me when you have to choose between 3d or 4k what do you choose? |

4K. 3D is a dying format.

I enjoy 3D more; it gets way more of a "wow" reaction from my home audience. When I have company and 3D is an option, they always want to see the 3D version. It's just more immersive and simply a lot of fun. I get little to no reaction when showing a 4K video.
3D TVs are scarce except for 2016 and earlier models, but 3D is alive and well on home projectors, or so I am told. I would just buy the edition that you think you will enjoy the most. The 4K edition will likely drop in price at some point and will be easy to find. The 3D edition might hold its price longer and become harder to find. Last edited by Vilya; 10-15-2017 at 10:47 PM. |

What I do not understand is that when Walmart and other stores were selling Real 3D sets, they really weren't that much more expensive than the regular 65" versions. Add on top of that, if you get the passive 3D tvs, you can use the same exact glasses you use at the movie theaters.
I say: I want to start seeing 3D 4K movies. Imagine BLADE RUNNER in 4000 lines of resolution and in 3D. Or 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY. or THE ROAD WARRIOR. |

As for US 3D home releases, in general: it looks like Fox’s last 3D Blu-ray release is going to be War for the Planet of the Apes, Lionsgate, Universal and Sony are already gone, and Disney is pretty much gone, excluding the periodic retailer exclusive. (Guardians might have been the end of that.) Fitprod |

Disney still releases 3D editions abroad and they are region free (except for Ratatouille). Most 3D releases are region free. I order 3D movies that are not available in the U.S. from Amazon.uk or Zavvi.com. Price is about the same, but the shipping takes longer, usually 7-14 days.
