Black Panther is Disney.
Simple as that. Apple wants one price for all version. Disney wants to hit you up for a premium for 4k. So Apple doesn't get the 4k encode. |

The Disney issue aside there’s also other distributor/licensing issues between regions too.
There’s loads of movies that have gone 4K in the US but still only HD in the UK. It does happen the other way too although not in as much of scale I might add but there are some movies 4K in the UK but only HD on the US too ie: A Few Good Men is one example. Disney movies I can sort of understand the reasons why but the ones I have difficulty in understanding are the ones from the same Distributor ie: John Wick 1 & 2, Spider-Man 2 & 3(Spider-Man went 4K only recently so there’s still hope they may follow soon), T2 Trainspotting, The Incredible Hulk just to name a few that have been 4K in the US pretty much from the off but as of yet HD only in the UK. |
