Eastern Promises Blu-ray (UK) out now. - Blu-ray Forum

Hi guys

just received my copy of Eastern Promises on Blu this morning.

Its a Fox release so it has DTS HDMA 5.1 but its also 1080i which is quite strange (apparently this is an error and it plays at 1080p). VC-1 codec so im guessing a port from the HD-DVD version. Also its aspect ratio is 1:85:1 so for all you "black bar" haters its full screen.

Picture looks quite nice, fairly sharp, colors are a bit soft but you'll now if you've see this film thats its got quite a bland palette anyway.

I really love this film and have been looking forward to this for a while, i'm quite happy but i can't shake the feeling that if this was on a BD50 (its on 25gb disc) with AVC it could be a better disc, but hey i could be wrong and its just the placebo affect of lower specs messing with my mind!

Oh yeah and its Region B (2) only. Sorry guys.

1080i huh...that's odd...same issue as the T3 disc?

No i think its meant to be 1080i, it says it on the back of the box.

It is a good picture and the film is superb might be a typo.

Fox have put wrong specs on a lot of their UK covers. The runtime for Robocop is 98 mins, it's not, it's 103min Dir Cut.

it is just a type (confirmed on other boards as well), hopefully people will pick this up as its a great movie.

Yeah. I use my PS3 for my Blu-rays.

hmmm maybe see if you can rent it from somewhere to test it? I know a lot of people would love to know if it would play on US models.
