I watched History the day after it came in, and just loved it. But, I knew I would. The first time I read the book of the same name, well, let's just say that it was a life changing experience for me. I've loved astronomy since I was a child, but Professor Hawking took my thinking to a whole other level. He is such a great teacher, and knowing what he has accomplished while living with ALS...the respect and admiration I have for him is limitless. I wish I could just sit down next to him, and say "thank you". He inspires me pretty much every day of my life. When I hurt, I think about what he's going through, and what he's been able to accomplish. And it motivates me.

Agreed on Cillian Murphy. He's outstanding in the show. If you see anything else you like, please let me know. Have a great Sunday!

Hey Meek, good to hear from you. I hope you, too, are doing well.
I have to start taking advantage of Hulu. I re-upped specifically so I could watch the Criterion movies everybody else was talking about. Thus far, I've not used it. I've just been buying them. I'll check out the ones you mentioned there. I bought A Brief History of Time, and Hiroshima, Mon Amour night before last on EBay. 8 1/2 is great. I could become a big Fellini fan.

BTW, I started watching Peaky Blinders on Netflix last weekend with a buddy of mine. Highly recommended. The show started on the BBC, and Netflix picked it up. There is some violence, but it's a fascinating period piece (set in 1919 Birmingham, England). Cillian Murphy and Sam Neil lead a great cast. I need to get back to Daredevil, too. Now that I'm feeling a little better, I'll be watching more. Have a great rest of the weekend. Talk to you soon.

The issues with my back, bulged and torn discs, spinal stenosis, degenerative discs and joints...can't be fixed because of my bones. They can't do artificial disc replacement, or spinal fusion on me. I've had multiple surgeries, and countless other treatments, and all they can do now is try to control the pain levels. So, I watch a lot of tv/movies to occupy my time. I can still walk, thankfully, so I'm not completely stuck, but I have to be very careful. And, I can't work.

Hey, Meek. Yes, I'll watch the rest of Daredevil. It's just a matter of sitting down and doing it. I have so many things I'm trying to watch, and finding time for all of it is a daunting task.

Thank you for the well-wishes, but my back is permanently damaged. I was born with a bone disease called osteogenesis imperfecta. But age 16, I'd had somewhere between 25-30 bone fractures. The doctors correctly predicted that they would stop with the onset of adulthood, but they didn't know then that the disease comes roaring back in the mid thirties. A vertebral fracture moving my then girlfriend about 8 years ago was the first, and since then I've had others, the worst being a shattered femur the summer before last. Broke into 6 pieces.

    Grr, 1,000 characters....

I've never seen a Terry Gilliam film, either. I'll have to check Hulu Plus to see if any of those are streamable. There are just too many great films out there for me to watch, yet. I need more hours in the day

By the way, my name is Bill. Any time you feel up to talking movies, or have a suggestion, please feel free to pop in. I am always interested in getting to know new people.

Oh, I know about Daredevil, too. One of my best friends suggested it to me about a month ago when he came over to hang out, and we watched the first three episodes. Since I first went on disability for my back, we've picked a series to watch together. We finished up the last three seasons of Dexter that way, we're doing Ray Donovan, and Daredevil got thrown into the mix, too. So, my tv viewing schedule is going to get filled up quickly. I haven't watched Arrested Development, believe it or not. I'm working my way through Breaking Bad for the first time (I'm in mid season 3). AD will be one of the next ones I seriously consider, though The Wire is high on my list.

Fear took me a while to really get into. It's so "out there". But I love Depp's work so much that I gave it another look, and I started to really get into it. He and Benecio Del Torro were great together, I thought.

Not a problem, I sometimes go a day or more without checking in here (though I will at least peruse the sales every day).

I spend far too much of my time watching tv, so I have Hulu Plus, Netflix, all the premium cable channels. Since Netflix started doing their own series, their overall content has improved greatly. And, I keep dreaming that they'll somehow make a Firefly series follow up. They did so for Arrested Development and The Killing, among others, so why not? Simply one of the greatest ensemble casts ever assembled, imho. I think Joss Wheedon is a genius, and the show and movie just continue to resonate with me, no matter how many times I watch them.

TCM and HD Net are both great for catching the classics. HD Net is going to be showing some Hitchcock films in July, and having not seen most of them, I will be watching for them.

Hello, Meek. Thank you for the suggestions. The original 3:10 is one I want to check out, and I am a big Johnny Depp fan, so the Criterion Fear and Loathing will be in my collection in short order. I just watched 12 Angry Men a couple nights ago, and loved it, so I'm going to grab that tonight. It's exciting to have this whole world in front of me.

I will check out Krzysztof Kieslowski, as well. I am part Polish (1/4), so I think he'd serve as a fine introduction to classic film from that country.

Have you seen A Brief History of Time yet? I've re-upped my Hulu Plus account, and they have over 900 of the Criterion films in their collection. I just wonder if you've checked it out, and what your impressions might be. I'm a big Stephen Hawking fan, and I'm curious to see how this documentary.

Thank you again. I greatly appreciate your taking the time to offer me some advice. To borrow from Roy Scheider in Jaws-"I'm gonna need a bigger boat."
