The problem was sporadic at first, but seems to have gotten worse. My new HDMI cable was shipped yesterday. If I still have problems after that, I'll try a 25' footer (which I
think will reach)...
If I were you, at a minimum I'd add some PVC (or something similar- I think there's some kind of flex tubing mad for it) up in the ceiling to use as conduit for any wiring you may need to run. That way if you ever need to fish something new above your drywall ceiling, your life will be much easier. Use a bigger pipe than you think you'll need because you never know what cable you'll need to run. And take it from me (I learned the hard way) five double strands of 12 gauge speaker cable takes up a lot of space! I had to run some of the cables outside of the PVC, but was still able to fish them thru the wall...
