Default HDMI cable problems

Sorry for your troubles man, has this always been the case or just recently started having troubles? Mine is a 32' inwall..
The problem was sporadic at first, but seems to have gotten worse. My new HDMI cable was shipped yesterday. If I still have problems after that, I'll try a 25' footer (which I think will reach)...

If I were you, at a minimum I'd add some PVC (or something similar- I think there's some kind of flex tubing mad for it) up in the ceiling to use as conduit for any wiring you may need to run. That way if you ever need to fish something new above your drywall ceiling, your life will be much easier. Use a bigger pipe than you think you'll need because you never know what cable you'll need to run. And take it from me (I learned the hard way) five double strands of 12 gauge speaker cable takes up a lot of space! I had to run some of the cables outside of the PVC, but was still able to fish them thru the wall...

Default HDMI cable problems - Update

Well, kudos to Bettercables.com for sending me a replacement so quickly. I had it within a few days. Unfortunately, it's still in the box. I'm hoping to get to it this weekend. I really hope it solves the problem. The biggest issue for me is that it totally ruins my HT demos. With each disc change in my PS3 I run into the problem. Hopefully, I'll be posting an update soon...

I hope this works out for you. However, I'm willing to bet it's an HDMI handshaking issue. There may be some difficulty between the player/receiver/HDTV in resolving HDCP when there's a loss in signal. The usual fix for this is to switch the component off and back on.

Outside of switching components, I'm not sure this will be something you can fix. Possibly make sure all your components have the newest firmware. You may also want to try turning on things in a different order to see if you can figure out where the handshaking issue is.

I had this with my old HDTV set. My new one exhibits no such issues. All the other equipment is the same.

I had a similar handshake issue with one of my first HDMI dvd players and my TV, it was the order I turned things on, that's what I get for early adoption I guess. I've since moved on from that.

Default Replacement HDMI cable

I ran the cable around the basement and hooked it up a couple of weeks ago. I've run it thru a gambit of tests, all the things that have caused problems. HD to SD channels, and back, to PS3 for BR/DVDs, and back, etc.

At first, all was flawless. However, a couple of times I had the same issue...the dreaded "NO HDMI SIGNAL" message. Seems to be a vast improvement over the other cable, but still not perfect.

I'm going to send it back to Better Cables and try a 25' cable. I first need to measure to make sure a 25 footer will reach. This whole thing has been a big pain in the butt, and I'm very disappointed that I'm having to deal with it.

For the price you paid for your cable, they should have sent you 2 replacements and a free French massage to go along with it.

FWIW I have the same receiver and haven't had any HDMI issues.

Ok sounds good, let me know how it works out. I'm going to test mine tonight.
