Trust me, the DVR vents out of the top. It gets hot on the top every once in a while, but not on the bottom. If they were switched around, then I would worry. My S300 was there and now the S350 is there. I have checked the temperature after a long day of Blu-Ray and DVR watching, and it was okay.
Can't be any worse than people that have components in the same CABINET as an Onkyo 805.
