I have to say, now at page 550 of Black House, even though the references are few and far between, I am SOOOOO glad I took the time to read it. I had tears in my eyes and goosebumps all down my arms reading about Parkus explaining to Jack about the Crimson King, the Beams, that Roland may no longer be the last Gunslinger and that there are three more he has trained, Sophie speaking the high language, etc., etc. Looking forward to seeing how the Black House ends up - Jack has just discovered Henry in his studio and listened to his final tape.

Yes but I would argue you would almost get more out of everything you just mentioned if you had already finished the Dark Tower series. Doesn't really matter either way, is my point. I just wouldn't put off reading such a great tale, but whatever floats ya boat
