Default Total Spending on Blu-Ray movies to date

Has anyone ever truly sat down to count the $$$ spent on your movie collection? I know it's not a fun subject for most folks probably, but have you ever wondered what you could've done with the money instead?

I looked at my collection and I had spent $7,350 over the last 9 years collecting movies. To recoup some of it, I sold 40+ steelbooks in my collection (including the entire Marvel Phase 1 collection I had gotten from all over the world, and the FutureShop exclusive Harry Potter set with steel case)

I realized that I really need to stop buying movies, especially expensive ones. So once I realized how much I had spent I set ground rules which I am proud to say I have followed closely and strongly:

Since Jan 2015:

1) Now I only buy movies once they're $11.99 or lower
2) No more double dips, ever. Not even buying re-releases on 4k (and I have a 4k player)
3) Steelbooks only for US releases, for movies I have not seen and IF they're the spectacle type movies [superheroes, sci-fi, fantasy etc) and if they're under $30 (including tax).
4) Not buying 3D + 4K releases separately. I choose 3D over 4K any day
5) No imports any more, they get super expensive

I realized that movies just sit there and no one else except for me gives a damn about them. I have started to invest my money elsewhere, where it can grow and maybe down the line allow me to buy a 4k laser projector for my future HT. That would be supreme.

I really want people to just think for a moment on how they're spending their money and would they rather invest it elsewhere where it helps?
