I see both sides of the argument. But, I can go buy the DVD for $5 - $7.50 if I want the DVD extras so much.

If BD50 vs BD25 is an issue there's also the possibility of using a regular DVD for the SD extras as a stopgap measure until the cost difference comes down. This could work quite well where the DVD release is a 2-disc set or more, since then you can just replicate a an extra set of DVDs for use with the BDs.
While I can see the case for not including extras and there are people who don't care that much about them, especially for some releases, it's important for appearances sake and further consumer adoption beyond the early adopter stage we're still in. Even if you don't ever watch them, just knowing they're there has a positive psychological effect
