I've only watched the first half of Justice League Dark, but there was a scene with a baby in the beginning. That might have tipped it over into Rated R territory.
Compared to Watchmen: Tales of the Black Freighter, I don't think there's much in the DC animated movies to push them into adult territory, some of the themes in The Killing Joke do, but as the animation style is quite cartoonish (that's not meant as an insult), the violence never really has much impact.
