Ong Bak 2 Review
So saw Ong Bak 2 on an import DVD and here's a quick review of it.
Story? Better than most of his other movies. The son of a man of noble blood is almost killed as part of a sacrifice seremony but is saved by a group of killers who are against the current royalty/government. They train the boy in each of their specialties and they go on to show eachof the styles later on in the film.
Action? This is what Tony Jaa is famous for. Brutal realistic fight scenes and great choreography. He does not disappoint. The only issue I had was that unlike his previous movies, there are many more cuts this time. While Ong Bak and Tom Yung Goon help shots for longer periods of time and showed the skill of all involved, this movie has more cuts. The thing is though you can tell that they are using two cameras for the cuts so the scenes are almost continuous.
Overall? This is a Tony Jaa movie first and foremost. He is the new martial arts star. It's no wonder Jackie Chan made a cameo in one of his movies to kind of "pass the reigns".
Recommended.
