I started to buy a couple of DVDs recently for 70’s and 80’s UK horror series, stuff that has been confirmed not to get a HD release on Blu-ray.
Some really good stuff like the excellent ‘Ghost Stories For Christmas‘ that we’re so creepy.
I’m 99% Blu-ray/UHD but I haven’t given up on DVD, it’s a good source for older tv stuff that was shot on Video in the first place many times.
I chucked all my Entertainment In Video DVDs as they were so badly authored that I could see dancing pixels every other frame. A constant fluctuating pattern. It was only ever those studio’s discs.
I was delighted when I grabbed Halloween 2 on Blu-ray. The letterboxed DVD was dreadful. I’m sure it was shot on video. Absolutely dreadful, worse than the original video tape! How did they manage that?
