Question hd dvd question????

Why would someone spend a grand on the new hd dvd players when they don't have alot of manufactues support(rca+toshiba), studio support, are a grand, and don't have the ability to play these supposed triple layer 45 gig discs? They have lost all advantages over blu-ray. Price.......no,studio support........no, storage space........no. I mean now that the BDA is getting their act together why would you buy an hd dvd player over a blu-ray player? Can someone answer me besides the "it's the only place to get Universal movies."???????? Blu-ray will probably have triple layer 75 gig discs before hd dvd has triple layer 45 gig discs.
