Almost all PC games will be PCM via optical as they aren't encoded with Dolby Digital. And for that matter, because optical does not support PCM multi-channel audio you will only get PCM 2.0. The solution is to pick up a sound card that can convert to
Dolby Digital Live and output via optical in order to get the PX5 base unit to operate in Dolby Headphone mode. However Dolby Digital Live has become increasingly rare with sound cards over the years (if it wasn't rare to begin with) and the only cards I know of that currently have it are the
Diamond Extreme Sound DDL and the
Asus Xonar.
Edit: Err, I guess scratch the Asus Xonar off the list - it looks like it only has coaxial and no optical out.
