So if i dont have a extended warranty and my ps3 breaks..i get the free 1 year sony warranty...they fix and send me my ps3 or a new one back no refurbished one right????

And once all the warranty runs out...if my ps3 breaks does sony fix it but charge me for fixing...or do i have to just buy a new one???

Im just getting back into gaming and asking some questions

With warranty service, you're going to get a refurb, even if it's with the 'extended warranty' that Newegg offers.

With Sony's warranty in the US, the way it works, they mail you a box to mail the ps3 to them in [all postage paid], they send you back a refurb'd unit.

For the later, it really depends on Sony's policy at the time, currently, they offer out-of-warranty service, but it's not promised in any of the literature, so it's not necessarily something you can bank on. Currently, out of warranty service is 150$ [all postage paid by Sony].

With the extended warranty from newegg, if it's within the first year, they're going to tell you to go through Sony and use their warranty service. After the first year, you ship to them, they attempt to fix, if they cannot, they send you a replacement unit [which by their terms, can include a refurbished unit]. They have a lemon clause for 4 repairs, get a new unit.

The value of the extended warranty is up to you, but the information is available. Just realize that it's never going to be as 'easy' or straight forward as the websites selling make it out to be.
