I think I will eventually. Too many Kino releases are being outshined by their UK comparison.

Just got notice of my Eureka order arriving in Ireland - getting hit with big import taxes. I thought Eureka had the IOSS system set up. Are others in Europe getting hit with taxes?

Just had a thought about Rio Lobo, and kinda found it surprising they didn't grab other Paramount Westerns that hadn't had UK discs yet, such as:

Dark Command (1940, Walsh)
Pursued (1947, Walsh)
The Furies (1950, Mann)
Distant Drums (1951, Walsh)
Run for Cover (1955, Ray)
A Man Alone (1955, Milland)
The Hangman (1959, Curtiz)
Posse (1975, Douglas)
Goin' South (1978, Nicholson)

Also wonder why this Hawks title rather than El Dorado, is it just because it was his last film? Maybe they needed to hit a certain number of titles and couldn't get that, so settled for Rio Lobo?

Anyway, there might be enough Walsh titles above to form a small box set, as I think they mentioned there'd be an MoC set of Westerns before the end of the year (or early next year if it got delayed) and after the announcement of The Sons of Great Bear, I had then assumed it'd be Red Westerns. Pursued would probably do well on its own, as would Dark Command, but I'd imagine Distant Drums might benefit from being paired with the two.

Still loads of Paramount titles I would like to see from MoC if possible though: Days of Heaven, The Parallax View, The Duellists, Letter from an Unknown Woman, Macbeth, Hud, Bad Company, Child's Play, The Gambler, Hard Eight, China Gate, Detective Story, Caught, The Miracle of Morgan’s Creek, Contraband, Heaven Can Wait, Real Life, Looking for Mr. Goodbar, The Odd Couple, Play It Again Sam, Uptight, Man on a Swing, The Slender Thread, Hatari, Catch 22, Daisy Miller, Save the Tiger, Black Rain, Mommie Dearest, Gallipoli, Explorers, Rampage, Ordinary People, Reds, Clue, Big Night, The Keep...they do have Arrow, Radiance and Final Cut in on the same stuff though so may have to act fast!

I'm in Dublin and I got my Eureka sale order in a couple weeks ago without problems. It was about £90 and I was a bit worried in case it declared more (list price and shipping) that might overshoot the IOSS limit, but there was no problem. I can also tell you the label definitely had IOSS logo on it.

I'm also in Dublin and I got my August order a week or two ago and had no issues. My order was only £30 though.

Watched my copy of Flaming Brothers tonight. Pretty good, some decent, actioned packed and blood soaked action scenes, although as is often the case with these kinds of films, there’s probably a little bit too much of the cheesy melodrama, especially in the middle section. Terrific finale though, very OTT.

The location comparison extra was pretty fascinating, as were the other similar ones included on a few Blu-rays of some other old Asian films.
There was a lot of strange video glitches on the black section of the screen when the feature had a side by side bit:

Not really a major problem and doesn’t actually affect the playback, but it is unfortunate as it quite distracting. Strange it wasn’t picked up in the QC phase.

Are they actually glitches, or just a pattern to fill out what would otherwise be black screen? The text renders fine by the look of it.

It's absolutely an intended effect, CFK's other featurettes have used similar retro stlye effects and it's very much a part of Arne's editing style for stuff like this.

Can’t believe it’s intended, there’s no uniformity to it, it just looks like when a 4K disc goes all glitchy.
But, if it is intended, it’s a dreadful “artistic” choice.

I'd be all over those westerns, especially the Mann. Not a fan of the needlessly chonky Criterion digipak (it comes with the novel the film is based on), which in my case turned up after being stored, apparently, in an incense warehouse and absolutely howls of patchouli.

I think it’s called Distractovision.
