Abandoning the $1 model is probably good for short term profits, but I maintain that it's a shortsighted disaster in the long run. DT's biggest advantage as a consumer was that you didn't have to think about prices. You could look at your cart, do mental mathematics, and immediately know the total cost before tax.

I'm not sure most of their employees even understand their pricing structure at this point.
They probably don't and it's some bullshit on the greedy suits to get a quick buck on the unknowing consumer. I think I saw one item priced at $1.25 but rang up at $1.50. I'm sure they're gonna point the finger at tariffs, but the prices won't change after everything settles down.

Possible. Look at what happened to the 99 Cents Store when they stopped the 99 cents model.

Didn't the same thing happen with this thread? Wasn't this thread called Dollar Tree DVDs at one point? Shortly before, Dollar Tree stopped selling movies there was somebody complaining about how people were also talking about blu-rays instead of just keeping everything to DVDs. They eventually changed the name to Dollar Tree movies Just to shut him up.

Because I have too much time on my hands, I found the origins of this.

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...ostcount=27532

But the guy was complaining that we were talking about DVDs instead of Blu-rays.

Unless there are two separate incidents?

(BTW, the movie I was asking about - Derby Dogs - is actually good. I posted my thoughts later in the thead.)

Yeah, I have a little spare time right now to harp on this some more. Many would say, MOVE ON! I usually do, but I feel people need to be called out on their "questionable" words and/or behavior. Don't punish the rest of the world or expect others to tip-toe around your quirks, fussiness, OCD, anal retentiveness, privileged attitude or straight-out Karen behavior. I think a lot of people pull a lot of crap and just never get called out for it. Nope. Not with me. Society is NOT getting any better, so I've just decided to downshift into GRUMPY OLD MAN mode when I see some "baby" behavior. I often say, just because I'm grumpy doesn't mean I'm wrong.

A perfect example: PHILLY KAREN. If you don't know what that is, do an internet search. I'm betting Philly Karen karens her way around like that all the time and people have put up with it and she gets what she wants. I think her days are up. The hunt is on to find out her identity. I'm betting she's dyed her hair and has changed her glasses style.

Gotta get back to the "real world" and go live my life. If this soap box rant has offended or TRIGGERED you, unsubscribe or tell me to buzz off.
