The French version is gorgeous. As for subtitles, it won’t allow me to switch them off, but I can easily simply move them down and off screen.

LOL "gorgeous." It looks almost identical to the DVD, and is 1080i. Not sure if it's an upscale, but it very well could be. It's a pretty terrible disc.

Is a 1080ì with 4% Pal speedup, but is a good update for DVD

All I said basically was that I give up.

I recognize that neither of you are bothered by PAL-speedup, but that's likely because you're Europeans and have known it all your life. To Americans it can be extremely distracting, and as this is an English-language film made and released on BD by an American film studio, I'm sure there is interest in the disc from Americans. I have owned plenty of PAL-sped-up discs, including BDs. PAL-speedup looks the same on every disc, there's no need to see an individual disc to know it's distracting to many Americans.

I was just trying to help people by giving them important technical information about the disc they could only otherwise find by plowing through 10+ pages of discussion in two separate threads.
Certain people around here if your review does not agree with theirs you can expect what happened. At least they didn't try and bully you or make fun of you.

Looking back at my decade-old posts, I can see that the two members who were so unpleasantly dismissive of me have since been banned.

At least the whole argument is moot now. The film has a US BD running at its native speed, rendering that ancient French 25fps disc irrelevant.
