I arrived at 9:30 AM and left at 8:10 PM...a long day indeed
First of all I would like to thank Robert and his family for hosting the event and taking such good care of us and providing great food, snacks and beverages throughout the day. Thank you so so very much... Thanks to Dwayne for all the hard work he put into the presentation and his patience to ensure all the judges had a chance to view and score each set. Thanks also to the judges who worked very hard ...it was very tedious and testing for them for sure. JMO but I saw it as Sony, Panasonic, Samsung..and LG in that order but won't quibble over the outcome as I said the judges and Dwayne carried the weight all day. |

As someone who does not watch TV in a "bright room" I would not weigh that score equally with the other categories. If "bright room" viewing warrants its own equally weighted category, why isn't there an equally weighted category for "dark room" viewing? Just curious.
I am surprised that the Sony Bravia 8 II came in 3rd place for HDR processing. Sony is supposedly famous for their processors; what happened here? The LG G5 score for HDR color is shockingly low. ![]() Last edited by Vilya; 07-27-2025 at 07:18 PM. |

The Bright Room category was actually comparing all of the TVs in their best "Out Of The Box" mode.
Sony's New 2nd Generation of the XR Processor is the best, and as it should it came in 1st place with evaluating SDR content, which is where upscaling and other important video upscaling comes into play. For the HDR testing the processor does not have to do much. |

I never would have guessed that "Bright Living Room" meant uncalibrated. I thought maybe it had something to do with SDR/ HDR brightness. Your explanation for Sony's processing is plausible, but I would still expect it to excel at HDR processing even if the need for it is less than with SDR. |

Shocked at the results of the LG G5. Maybe getting rid of MLA wasn't a wise decision.

Same new stacked panel is used on the Panasonic with better results..so it's not the panel that has the issues.

QUOTES
"Once again, for the seventh straight year, the Sony K65XR80M2 has been crowned “King of TVs” in the 21st Value Electronics shootout by a dozen ISF-certified platinum-eyed judges." "“I originally started [the Shootout] on my own because I wanted to see who makes the world’s best TV and to see the differences between each of them,” explained Zohn, “I took my engineering background and created this event to compare and evaluate [the best] TVs by putting them up against each other with a reference monitor so that you know what it’s supposed to look like.” https://www.twice.com/product/video/...f-tvs-shootout |

![]() These "who the hell are they websites" really need writers that know how to construct a sentence. It should have read: Once again, for the seventh straight year, Sony has won the Value Electronics TV shootout with the new for 2025 Sony K65XR80M2 as determined by a dozen ISF-certified judges. Is platinum-eyed supposed to mean "eagle eyed?" ![]() Last edited by Vilya; 07-29-2025 at 07:15 PM. |

I definitely would NOT say platinum eyed
![]() Still, they are all good people who worked very hard whether you agree with the results or not. I as a guest present at the shootout... and seeing what they saw, felt they were a little off in the top 3. |

I've found their shootouts instructional even if their number 1 has rarely lived up to reality
