Question on disc production

Okay I have a long question but Id appreciate if someone knows whats up :D

I know companies like TDK, Sony etc are mass producing blu rays for general use.

Say a game developer like Squaresoft makes Final fantasy 13. How do they get the blu ray discs for their game and how does the game get onto the discs? Does squaresoft order a quantity of discs and put the game on themselves with writable drives? Or do they send the game to sony or whoever and have them mass produce it? Do they use single write discs or a different kind?

Is this the same for movies?
