Perfect! If the claim in the ad proves true, and other movie rental stores follow suit, this is a major blow to the format war.

And here's an important difference... this article predicting the death of HD-DVD is written by the owner and main man behind the site, Phillip Swann. The other was an Op-Ed written by a random observer prior to teh BB announcement.

There's hope, I know Hastings has been staying away from HD rentals as a whole.

With BB expanding their HD markets, I suspect that Hastings isn't too far from following suit, at least if they can get over their well earned trepidation on new formats [UMD I blame you!].

At the very least, the market expansion as a whole is good news for the ability for BD to actually beat the real competitor, DVD.
