Hi all,was wondering how many of you blu-ray lovers would want the movie only on the disc with all 50 gig used and being a cheaper price .as i very rarely watch extras and if i did would probably only ever watch extras once.just a question.i would rather the price dropped and had movie only.with one of the lossless codecs.

I watch extras more then once. There is no point of having the movies picture and audio encoded to the max 50GB because you get to certain point that the bitrate no matter how high it is you wont be able to tell the difference with one that takes up say only 30GB or so. Look at the Blade Runner BD it uses 25GB for picture, several lossless and lossy audio tracks and subtitles yet looks better then some BD's that are encoded on 50GB discs.

The extras like BURN-E on WALL-E - love that little short.
The Pixar shorts on the various discs - love those too. The extras like commentaries - never watch. The PiP commentaries ontop of the movie as it plays - never watch BD-Live is where all the fluff should be - or on the second disc like in Transformers or WALL-E or Speed Racer or ... Yes! I would prefer a fully utilized disc for just the movie itself. |

Yeah, as bad as the last 20 threads we've had about this.
I love extras. The more the better. Especially audio commentaries. And have refused to upgrade to the Blu-Ray when they're not at least carried over. It's not an upgrade when you're losing so many great extras. And cutting the extras is not going to lead to cheaper prices. That's just wishful thinking. Look at all the barebones Blu-Rays that have the same pricepoint as fully loaded editions. It's just not gonna happen. |

I know that the extras don't affect the price, but if I had the option of paying less for a blu-ray with just the movie, and the AQ and PQ didn't suffer any, then I would be all over it. I never watch extras so it would be a no-briner for me. But as someone said above, that's just "wishful thinking."
