Default Installing Game Problem

I just bought FFVII on the PSN. It downloads all the way, but will not start installing. It says error code 80029564. I have searched all over and haven't found a resolution yet. Anybody ever get around this? Any help would be appreciated.

there was an error when installing. turn off your PS3 wait a min. or two and try again. If it still doesnt work, re-download it and try again.

I tried resetting it earlier this evening. Maybe I just need to be a bit more patient and turn it off a few minutes. I will try about anything right now, it is annoying the crap out of me.

Default PS3 network problems

I have been having network problems on my PS3 for about a month now. My internet seems to work normally, and I can use it on my computer. Things even work on my PS3, for the most part. The only thing that I cannot do is install larger downloaded files. For example, I can download FFVII off the PSN, but it will not install. I keep getting error message 80029564. I have been able to download and install smaller files, I even did a firmware update. I just have an issue on larger files. This also happened when I tried to install the Fight Night 4 demo.

I am using a Linksys WRT54G router over a wirless network. I never had this problem before until recently. I don't know if it is a router problem or what. I did install a new Internet Security program several weeks ago (Kaspersky 2009). I noticed when I viewed my network over the software provided by Linksys, the internet and modem icons are gray, and there is a yellow triangle over the internet icon. All the other icons are colored, and appear to be working fine. I called my cable company, and they said my connection seemed to be working fine. I resetted the modem and router numerous times. I updated the firmware on the router. I tried opening up a few ports on my router. This issue is really driving me nuts, and I'm not extremely network savvy. I would appreciate any help I could get.

I did a quick google search and came up with several fixes for the 80029564 error. I think this is the same error I had a while back. Look into some of the google answer and you should be good to go, they worked for me.

Would give you a good link but anything games related is blocked at work, sorry.

Do you remember off the top of your head how you fixed the problem?

Some others have been getting the same issue... There's some discussion about it on the Playstation boards, but it looks like nobody's posted in a while.

I've seen this happen at my parents house they have the same router, I was able to resolve by turning off the media server option and I also gave the ps3 a static ip address and put it in DMZ on the router, no further problems

From another forum:

Quote:
Here is what I did. I got a bit frustrated and put everything demo there was to download in the download queue and went to bed. Ninja ended up there 3 times and I doubled up on a few others too. It was hit or miss what installed properly or did not. The last Ninja in the queue worked the next day when I tried to install them. Viruta Tennis still has issues not that I care about Tennis.
So basically queue up a bunch of installs (demos) with FFVII in it and see if it works.

How do you set up a static IP for the PS3? Will turning on DMZ get my computer hacked? Sorry, I'm not very good with these type of things.

To give it a static IP, you have to set it up manually (instead of automatic or easy)... Take a look at it's current IP address, and when you enter the new "static" IP address change the last section to something really high... (say your current IP address is 192.168.1.4, change it to 192.168.1.18)... the best place to get DNS server numbers is www.opendns.com.

Putting your PS3 into the DMZ will not effect your computer... just put the PS3 IP address into the DMZ.

Thanks for the info. I must confess, I don't know how to put the PS3 in DMZ either. I had never even heard of DMZ until a couple weeks ago.

Did you try my suggestion of multiple installs at once? I didn't see a response back.

I haven't been at home to try it out yet. I will def try it tonight though. Do I try to download the same thing a bunch of times and hope one works. Or, do I just download a bunch of random stuff, and stick the one I actually want somewhere in the bunch?

Download 5 different things that require installs (such as demos) including FFVII. Then turn off your PS3 and select the option to have them all installed before you turn it off.

Okay, do I just select several things and have them download in the background? Then I go to turn it off. I am not familiar with the option of having it turn off after downloads. Is that a new option? Is that under the main shutdown menu from pushing the PS button? I probably have just never looked hard enough or tried it before.

You have to go into your router's settings (usually by opening an internet browser, and entering your router's IP address found on sticker), there should be a place to put things into DMZ.

I didn't even knew you could do that, and I don't remember seeing that option when you close the ps3??
