Default What DSP mode do you use to listen to CDs and other Stereo sources?

Do you use standard 2Ch, Pure/Direct, 5/7 Channel Stereo, Dolby Pro-Logic, or any other equalizer like Hall, Rock, Jazz (and many others)?

Personally, I enjoy 5 Channel Stereo because it sounds like 2Ch Stereo, but with a mono track for the center speaker. I never liked Pro-Logic.

On my Pioneer Elite SC-05, I listen to 2-channel CD vinyl and network music in Direct mode. I prefer to run the audio through the 9-band EQ in the receiver, which I tweaked to my own personal taste. Subwoofer still carries audio below 80Hz.

for Sony receivers, it would be AFD (auto format decoding) meaning in its original recorded state

Long way of saying DIRECT +7

Never understood the difference between direct and pure direct.

Pure Direct turns off all unneeded circuitry, always use it!

It basically means that it plays back the selected source with the least circuitry. Less is good.....less is Pure Direct.

I like using the PLIIx music mode. If I want to listen to it in 2ch mode I select stereo mode...I still like having the bass go through the sub, can't do this in pure direct.

That's actually why I choose stereo as well. I like keeping my Audyssey calibration, where as some of the Pure Direct type modes discard that.
