Default What types of encodes does Blu-ray use?

what are the specifics of how BD films are encoded, specifically to mpeg4/avc.Do they use anything as advanced/good or just various/generic encoders. Its just another aspect of video quality really.

Like HD DVD, BD movies can be AVC, VC-1 or MPEG-2.

But the vide codec isn't the same as the standard used to encode it, specifically, no info there.

Movies are encoded using a variety of proprietary commercial tools/implementations – CineVision PSE, Sony AVC & MPEG-2, etc.
