Default got my first plasma!

I got one heck of a deal at the Target I work at.

Panasonic Viera TC-P42C1

now here is the deal:

$699.99
- 55% clearance markdown
- 30% for being the display model (it is only about 7 weeks old, I set it up in store myself)
- 10% team member discount
+ $29 for a three year extended warrenty
= $226 total

I absolutely could not pass it up. It replaces my two year old 32" Sharp Aqous as the main TV, the Sharp has moved to the spare room.

The odd thing is ..... it says it is only 720p .. but the on-screen display and my PS3 both show it running at 1080p.

Your PS3 is displaying the resolution of the source (BD movie), which is 1080P, but your tv will display at 720p. Anyways, you got a super deal for that tv.

hmm. strange (my Sharp didn't do this)

I just thought it odd the TV info also read as 1080p. It still looks lightyears better than my LCD haha.

I just need to lower it some on the tv stand by about two inches (I have one of the stands with the "wall" bracket built on)

Amazing price!! I would love to get a TV of that quality for that price. I'll be in the market soon for a bedroom set and that would be awesome.

Lucky You!

i knew it looked awesome in the store, and now reading some reviews seems to be a solid 4.5-5/5 on every review with practically no issues.

i had to jump when i sold two in the box @ $297 within 30mins of each other. as soon as i rang out the last boxstock one, I went on break and snagged the display haha.

That's less than what I'm going to pay for the wife's Kitchen LCD. Good Job !

I have the 42x1, it says 1080p cause actually it displays more than 720p vertical lines, it does 768p so it rounds up which is kind of cool!

Oldham County. When I walked out the door, I realized that Target probably closes at 10:00, so I'll check it out this morning.

You should really use one of these () when you are making a joke, otherwise folks may take you seriously.

No deal south of the border in Louisville. Our Target has them on "sale" for $599. I'll keep checking over the next couple of weeks.

I'm not joking, the tv does 768p, while thats still not insanely close to 1080p, the tv decided since 768p > 720p, that they'd label it as a 1080p signal.

No. The signal coming from the PS3 (or whatever input device) is what is being displayed. It had absolutely nothing to do with the set. The set (along with just about every other "720p" set) is native 768 lines, and everything fed to it will be scaled to the set's native resolution. It has nothing to do with the TV 'deciding' anything. If the input signal was 720p, the set would display it as 720p. Same with 480i/p and 1080i. It's simply displaying the input signal.

But my old tv was a 1080i crt, so via the hdmi cable the PS3 display settings wouldn't let you choose 1080p, only 720p/1080i. These sets let you choose and even default to 1080p via automatic setup.

I don't "need" another set, either, but a 42" Panasonic plasma for $300 is a no-brainer. I was going to give it to my son for Christmas and then take his 19" CRT for our workout room. Oh well. I'll just have to keep checking and hope for the best.

electronics can get marked down on Friday & Monday. Monday is the offical day, but f price change is fast like our's, they can work it early on fridays.

and I know around where you are. cool to see someone on here that lives that close. I always wonder if some of the people I see in the Blu aisle are on this site haha.
