Default Moster VS Monoprice - HDMI shootout

My apologies if this has already come up in one of the HDMI cable discussions.

HA! I got ripped a new one in this forum for buying a Monster Cable. 99% of people were telling me a $25 HDMI cable is the EXACT same as a $250 HDMI Monster Cable. How it's a digital signal and it is interpreted the same in the end.... blah blah....

I still don't think it's worth the extra cash but I knew there was a difference.

Wait a second. I didn't read it all, but he only proved there was noise with a 50ft monoprice cable. I didn't see him prove that there wasn't any noise with a similar monster cable, did he?

This test was great to read.

I like how it only proved what we already know, that monster will *probably* perform better, but that for 99% of the people it doesn't matter. THANK YOU for actually testing it.

I wish they had the 50 footer from monster just for comparison sakes, but good to read nonetheless.

DON'T FORGET! He said that the cable that produced the "noise" was easily corrected by exchanging it for another of the same.

LOL, i remember that thread!!!!

But to be fair...everything stated has always specified short cables (3-6ft).
Quote:
As I mentioned this morning, I skipped the testing on the shorter cables because, using Monster's own gear, we showed that they could carry today's 1080p signal without trouble. (One, from XtremeHD, had trouble with some extreme video simulations, but it passed all of the real-world simulations, so you can keep using it... for now.)
Long cables have always been told to be susecptible to interference, whereas short cables generally don't recieve interference due to how short they are, UNLESS they are running over high voltage wires!

If you wanna run long HDMI cables, best bet is to get optical HDMI cables.

Eh . . . I'll keep my Blue Jeans Cables over either of them. Haven't failed me yet! I'll never buy anything from Monster again.

I just bought two from Monoprice and neither one had braiding on the outside like I expected. My earlier purchases from them did. Somewhat disappointing.

Send them back and get the ones you wanted. They have a lot to choose from and you have to read the descriptions carefully. I paid a little extra for the thicker cord with the braiding. But I have to look really hard and double check my order to make sure I was ordering the right one.

And that's the only way it makes sense.

The rest of us mere mortals without that nice hookup should go in the other direction.
