Default Panasonic TC54PS14

Guys,

A friend of mine just picked up this Panny TC54PS14 at FutureShop today for
$1699.99 Have you read any decent reviews on this set ? I can't even find it on the Panasonic site!!

I told him to get FutureShop to price match the TCP54S1 since BB is selling it at the same price of $1799.99 But he didnt listen... any input so I can get him to change his mind would be appreciated!

Joey.

He's in Canada so that's not a bad price. OP, that set is basically the same set as the S1. There may be a few small differences with the bezel design and maybe some other little features, but the panels and processing are the same. It should have exactly the same picture.

you sure? theres a $700 difference on the reg price tags for these models...

Why doesnt Panasonic have this model on the official site ? Is this one of those models made for FS and a few other places ?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure its one of those models specifically for certain stores like Costco and Sam's Club. Panasonic has done this in the past with other models. Usually they are pretty much identical performance wise, but they will sometimes have a different bezel and may have some small omissions like fewer ports and things like that. The anti-reflection filter may differ as well, but I'm not sure if they did that with this one or not. I know the Panny I have had a brother of sorts that was only sold in Sam's Club and if I remember right the filter was different as well as the bezel, but internally it was the exact same TV.

No. It's a 1080p set. Look at the resolution (pixels). The "900 lines or more" is a measure of motion resolution (which is less than 1080 lines for most sets), though I thought the 2009 Pany's all were able to resolve 1080 lines of motion.

The S14 is an S1 with the previous years panel.
I was argueing with XNEOX about the S14 really being just a re-numbered S1 and was corrected by DobyBlue. It's an older thread from about 6 months ago.

It's full 1080p, but shows 900 or more lines of resolution during motion. Which is still really good.

Thanks 13, I found that other post you mentioned and read through it... And it pretty much backs up what I thought. If he can get the S1 at the same damn price he should get it!

Thanks guys!
