Default Planet Earth, New UK Release 5-Disc Version

https://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=386
Just read that in the "News Section"

So there is another Planet Earth that is going to be released...

How different is it from the current Blu Ray edition that is out? (4 discs?)

Does anyone know if the one that is to be released in September is the same as the current one, just with 5 discs (newly added episodes ‘Desert Lions' and ‘Snow Leopard')

I was about to purchase the current blu ray version of Planet Earth but if there is a new one coming out, I'll wait. Will it be easily available in the states?

Any suggestions/comments?

Actually there will be 3 versions of Blu-ray Planet Earth

1) Region A BBC/Warner - Attenborough narration (out now) 24p
2) Region A Discovery - Weaver narration (out now) 24p? 60i?
3) Region B BBC/2 Entertain - Attenborough narration, with the couple extras you mention, and 5 discs (October) 25p/50i most likely?

So, I just better purchase the Region 1 version, Option 1 from your list.

I want the original BBC narration.

I would guess that be the case if you're in Region A.

Since the Region B release it's not out, well we don't know if it region free or the full tech specs. One would assume it be in 25p/50i as the original European broadcasts and PAL region 2 DVDs are in 25/50 and I think Region B players have 50Hz refresh capabilities, and doing it in 24p or 60i might introduce changes that our PAL brothers might notice and say hey it's different! But we'll have to see how it comes out over there.

And talking about that, anyone get the Discovery version?

Just picked up the HD DVD Discovery Edition from Discover's website for about 60 dollars. I prefer Ripley doing the talking.

I'm surprised the short documentaries aren't present, they were only 12 minutes or so long. Still, to see some of those amazing vistas in HD... WOW, I've pre-ordered on Play.com
