As has been stated already the UK version of Planet Earth is encoded for 1080p. I bought it without really caring whether or not it was interlaced or progressive and was pleasantly surprised to see that all the episodes were in Full 1080p. And gorgeous to look at! So go for the UK version if you want. The 5th disc is well worth it! |

thanks for the feedback guys,
saw it in tesco's yesterday, but held back due to feedback of poor picture quality. i read this on play.com; "now apparently Planet earth was the first documentary to be filmed almost entirely in HD, i would disagree. within the first 5 episodes (these are the ones i have got round to watching on blu-ray) i would say only about 30mins of footage appears to be shot in full HD with these scenes looking crystal clear. but a lot of the time the image is very grainy and that presents a lack of detail almost as if you are watching the upconverted DVD version.." |

I need your help here--please! I have been trying for months to find a way to order for a US address (and pay in US dollars) the 5-disk UK Blu-ray version of Planet Earth (because the US version does not contain the fifth disk of bonus materials). Amazon UK has stonewalled me, and the BBC has said that it contractually cannot sell to people in the US. So then I tried contacting the authorized vendors listed on the Amazon UK site, and I wrote to all of them, and none even responded at all. So then I wrote to all the Amazon US vendors, and many of them kindly responded, but none had the UK version to sell.
Can anyone help me here? I am running out of options. I am a new Blu-ray user (and new to this site), and am still hoping for success.... Thanks! Bob P.S. I managed to get the Amazon UK site to change their listing of the region coding of this disk set to "all regions," as previously they had it incorrectly listed as incompatible with US Blu-ray players.... |

not sure if they allow you to pay in US dollars, but a lot of americans use:
http://www.sendit.com/video/item/7001000138750 if nothing else works why not try ebay.co.uk and see if a seller with good feedback posts to the US. |
