Default Planet Earth: Discovery version

Has anyone else caught this:

http://shopping.discovery.com/produc...=40588004-59-0

Planet Earth the Discovery Channel Version with Sigourney Weaver Narrating instead of David Attenborough. Once I recieved the BBC version I was upset to say the least that Sigourney (I call her by first name because were friends) asnt narrating because watching it on Discovery made me like her voice, plus Ghostbusters being one of my favorite movies when I was little made me like her even more. I woud have gotten this copy but after reading the reviews It seems that David's version is more informative?

While I sit and watch my Planet Earth all I can think of now is "There is no Sigourney only Attenborough"

Does anyone have this version to compare?

The Attenborough version is longer and seems to be regarded as "the" version to have.

You can always catch the other version on Discovery HD once in a while to get your Ripley fix.

Thanks and this makes me happier. Does the BBC version have a longer runtime?

The BBC version is the best one. I read not so good reviews on the Weaver version on highdefdigest.com

I agree - Attenborough has a perfect video-narrative voice.

I can't figure out why Discovery keeps changing out Attenborough for the US broadcasts of these shows. Attenborough has an amazing voice and great talent for commentary. It's really kinda sad that Discovery feels that Americans wouldn't like him or understand him (or whatever their reason's are)
