Default Pioneer Pro 111FD findings?

Just bought a sony 46XBR9 and decided i rather have a PIONEER ELITE KURO 111FD instead but i've googled that tv and every link u click on, every store, when u call them, doesn't have it. I know they aren't made anymore but i figured SOMEWHERE in all of these United STATES SOMEWHERE, at least 1 STATE, would still have some in stock. I'd even buy a used one if the price was right. Anyone know by Chance where i might get one of these? Google, ebay, amazon, craigslist, none of them have working links. Thanks

I'm not sure whether or not they'll have some KUROs in stock, but ValueElectronics is a pretty reputable dealer. A few members on here have purchased their panels from them.

You have a better chance on finding the Pioneer PRO-151FD then a PRO-111FD. The PRO-151FD is exactly the same quality and features except it is 60 inches (Also WxHxD and pounds are more). Same exact picture and sound quality.

HI thanks, yes i know they are the same BUT the issue is a 60" is waY too big for my little nyc studio apartment. My place is HOOKED UP to the max with top of the line stuff BUT even that 50 inch 111fd is a bit big for my place BUT i still want it lol....it has to be the 111fd, if i had more space then i would get the 151 as i've found that one already but it's huge. Right now my 46xbr9 i just bought is an upgrade from my 40" samsung 650 and it's pretty big already. I would have gotten a 40" 111fd if they had it.

MAN i'm dying to take back this xbr9 and even willing to sell off all my surround sound stuff or whatever it takes just to get that 111fd. I am starting think it is not to be found N E WHERE in the USA lol...that's crazy.

The PRO-111FD list price use to be $5,000. At one time one could pick them up at Best Buy in the middle of Summer 2009 for only around $2,500. This Summer most stores ran out of stock on that model. If you cannot find the Elite PRO-111FD you might be able to locate the higher quality Elite Signature series PRO-101FD. The 50 inch PRO-101FD list price use to be $5,500 plus $200 for the KRP-TS02 Table Top Stand. Once and a while you can find the PRO-101FD online for slightly under $2,500. It is slightly better quality then the PRO-111FD since it supports PAL and SECAM, has hand inspected key parts for the best quality, more picture controls including BLUE only mode, and is only 2.5 inches thick. The only issue is the PRO-101FD monitor is not for the average consumer. It has no audio section or speakers to keep cost lower. Requires a surround sound system to hear audio. It also does not come with a table top stand (Stand can be purchased from Pioneer directly for $99 clearance price). Also there are no tuners. You need to use an external HD cable box,HD satellite receiver, or external ATSC tuner to watch TV.

I'm not sure why you're dead set on the 111FD when a 500M can be had easily enough. Robert from Value Electronics even sells them with ISF modes enabled and calibrated by D-Nice himself. It doesn't get any better than these panels. There's tons of info about these pdps over at the AVS board. They sport the 10th generation panel and are constructed with the exact same quality parts as the the 101FD. He even offers optional speaker bundles if needed. I'm not trying to push the 500M on you, I just don't see why you're so desperate to get a 111FD, that you would sell your audio gear when a better panel can be had for probably cheaper.

Even taking that Sony back and getting a Panasonic V10 would be big upgrade from that LCD. I would even get the Panny S1 for all that. Either way, good luck on your quest.

I've never herad of a pioneer 500M, I want the 111fd because cnets reviews state it's best even til now. I haven't heard any reviews of any plasma that is around 50 inches that is better than the 111fd. They say 111fd is the best, that's why i want it that badly, where does it say a pioneer 500m or a panasonic v10 is better. Pannys are not better than pioneers, or at least thats' what i read......

If you can find one! It is worth it. I went from a XBR5 to the 111fd and it is night and day. The 111fd rocks!!! I got it @ Best Buy in Kentucky

Kuro Friday

"Kuro" is black in Japanese....get it!

They're a five-star blah...blah...blah. I've bought a few things from them over the past year. No surpirses, good or bad. You get pretty much what they offer on the site.

So once the orbiter shifts the screen, how do u get it back to the regular screen after those 10 minutes? Do i have to keep resetting it to keep it in the middle of the screen? Wont this affect the picture because if it shifts then part of the pic will be shifting, no?

So ur saying for the first 100 hours i can't watch what i want to watch if it has those logo's or play ff7 or an rpg because of the bars for 100 hours? For a tv that is supposed to be the best...it's a lot of hassle.

If u check the specs of the hdmi 1.3b, one of them says that it can run the audio in and out without need for an optical or coaxial cable which was why i wanted to update to that cable. Confusing this stuff is.

What would happen if i got burn in on that pioneer? WOuld i have to call pioneer to come fix it? Also i read that plasmas don't last as long as they should. Ex....if it says it's 60,000 hours, they loose their color/vibrance at 30,000 half of it and are not as good anymore. Do i have to replace the gasses in it somehow?

Where are you seeing the specs for HDMI 1.3b mentioning that new audio feature?:

"Q. What is the difference between HDMI 1.3 and HDMI 1.3a, or 1.3b?
For consumers, there is no difference between HDMI version 1.3 and 1.3a or 1.3b. These minor revisions to the specification typically relate to manufacturing or testing issues and do not impact features or functionality. In addition, HDMI Licensing, LLC is actively working with manufacturers to reduce confusion for consumers by de-emphasizing version numbers and focusing instead on product features and functionality.
For Adopters, the latest HDMI Specification is v1.3a and the latest HDMI Compliance Test Specification (CTS) is 1.3c."

http://www.hdmi.org/learningcenter/faq.aspx#112

Both plasmas and LCD screens under ideal conditions can last 10-20+ years. Anything can break. Just about every flat screen can be repaired in the first 7 years. After 7 years parts are hard to find for most brands and models. There are people that are still using the first generation 1999 Pioneer plasma screens and they are working fine (Of course the first generation had burn in issues). Burn in is not repairable if it happens. The 9th generation plasmas have all kinds of protection to prevent burn in. Burn in is almost a non issue on modern plasma screens. The KRP-500M comes with a 1 year in home warranty on parts and labor where as the Pioneer Elite products have a 2 year warranty.

You can search online about the Orbitor feature or read the Pioneer instruction manual for more details. Viewing a display in the store will answer your questions about the Orbitor feature.

The Samsung UNB8500 is a good display also.

Yeah i agree, the pioneer i want because it's the best picture as everyone says but it's that burn in that worries me. I know u said if i leave it on orbiter it will shift it but then how do i get the picture to go back to the middle?

Also, what if i don't make the 100 hours or make a mistake and i end up watching something with a bar like channel 5 with that logo there and i forget about it and it's not 100 hours? THen i get the burn in most likely cause i didn't let it break in properly and u say i can't fix burn in which means i'm out 2000 bucks. That is why i'm hesitating and looking at the sammie 8500. I really want the best pic though as i've always bought lcds and never plasmas because of those issues. I don't want good anymore, i want the BEST!! Just don't want to make a mistake and get a burn in for forgetting to make sure i make the 100 hours without bar or labeled programs.

Hey u must have a SERIOUSLY high iq man cause u know a lot lol.

If you want the absolute best then the Elite Signature PRO-141FD and PRO-101FD are a little better if you can find them. They have hand picked and certified key parts with a 2 year parts and labor warranty. The Pioneer Signature series offers PAL and SECAM support for those that want to import movies from Europe, Japan and other countries. More inputs then the KRP series (4 HDMI on the Signature series). Exclusive Blue only mode which is ideal for video calibration. The PRO-141FD list for $7,000. At one time Best Buy had them for clearance at $4,449.98. The PRO-141FD mail order clearance was slightly under $3,500 but around Christmas you might not be able to get that price anymore. The PRO-101FD original list price was $5,500. At one time mail order clearance on that display was under $2,500. Its around Christmas and it went up to around $3,000 mail order. No audio section at all for those models.

Product Brochure

I have connected PRO-141FD's and PRO-101FD's for several family members and they started watching 4:3 material immediately even though I mentioned that for the first 100 hours or so to limit programs to 16:9 to avoid image retention. With the orbiter mode on mode 2 I have never seen so far any burn in issues with the Pioneer 9th generation plasmas.

Another Orbiter example: A Pioneer 50 inch screen only has a 49.85 inch viewable screen. The picture shifting from left to right or right to left only moves around .15 inches over a 10-15 minute period. The 60 inch screen with a 59.58 inch viewable picture only movies around 1/2 inch max over a 10-15 minute period (Estimate only not totally accurate info on time and movement). This is hardly noticeable movement that can only be seen if you compare where the picture is every 10 or 15 minutes. The Orbiter feature can be turned off but hardly anyone is bothered by it.
For those that leave a static image on the screen for several hours or days there is a video pattern built into the Pioneer plasma screens that can be run for a hour to help to get read of ghosting or minor burn-in issues.

Yes in the past for older first generation plasma screens burn in was a major problem. But now plasma screens are almost as good as modern day CRT screens when it comes to burn in. Its been a long time since I have seen a CRT tube TV or CRT Front Projector have burn in. Both plasma and CRT technology has improved greatly in that negative area over the years.

I remember back around 1999 this corporation that I use to work for ended up installing several first generation 4:3 480P Pioneer plasma screens running 24 X 7 with the network logo from CNN being burned into the screen. Those plasmas ran 24 X 7 for several years with CNN on 24 X 7. I said to myself I would never purchase a Pioneer plasma screen after seeing the burn in issue many years ago on their first generation models.

Then when it came time to purchase a 1080P flat screen instead of going with a LCD model I ended up with a Pioneer plasma and so did my family members. Pioneer had the absolute best 1080P picture quality on their 2006, 2007, and 2008 models. The main deciding factor that changed my mind about Pioneer was that the burn in issue had almost completely became a non issue do to technology advances they made with the latest plasma generations. Many reviews mention that Pioneer plasmas are less likely to have burn in issues compared to other brands.

Hi thanks but why would i pay 2500 bucks to this site for a 500m when i already stated i would pay 2000 at valueelectronics and that's with the stand and shipping? I called them and they do have stock left. I'm leaning towards this......and the hd ota box, just need to study on the burn in, orbiter, gas, time line of the tv, etc... to see if it's worth it over the 468500 : sammie that is.
