Just bought a sony 46XBR9 and decided i rather have a PIONEER ELITE KURO 111FD instead but i've googled that tv and every link u click on, every store, when u call them, doesn't have it. I know they aren't made anymore but i figured SOMEWHERE in all of these United STATES SOMEWHERE, at least 1 STATE, would still have some in stock. I'd even buy a used one if the price was right. Anyone know by Chance where i might get one of these? Google, ebay, amazon, craigslist, none of them have working links. Thanks

I'm not sure whether or not they'll have some KUROs in stock, but ValueElectronics is a pretty reputable dealer. A few members on here have purchased their panels from them.

I'm not sure why you're dead set on the 111FD when a 500M can be had easily enough. Robert from Value Electronics even sells them with ISF modes enabled and calibrated by D-Nice himself. It doesn't get any better than these panels. There's tons of info about these pdps over at the AVS board. They sport the 10th generation panel and are constructed with the exact same quality parts as the the 101FD. He even offers optional speaker bundles if needed. I'm not trying to push the 500M on you, I just don't see why you're so desperate to get a 111FD, that you would sell your audio gear when a better panel can be had for probably cheaper.
![]() Even taking that Sony back and getting a Panasonic V10 would be big upgrade from that LCD. I would even get the Panny S1 for all that. Either way, good luck on your quest. |

I know this store has stock...not much but they bought a lot of stock from a distributor:
Kuro Friday "Kuro" is black in Japanese....get it! They're a five-star blah...blah...blah. I've bought a few things from them over the past year. No surpirses, good or bad. You get pretty much what they offer on the site. Send me a PM and I can give you more info... |

So once the orbiter shifts the screen, how do u get it back to the regular screen after those 10 minutes? Do i have to keep resetting it to keep it in the middle of the screen? Wont this affect the picture because if it shifts then part of the pic will be shifting, no?
So ur saying for the first 100 hours i can't watch what i want to watch if it has those logo's or play ff7 or an rpg because of the bars for 100 hours? For a tv that is supposed to be the best...it's a lot of hassle. If u check the specs of the hdmi 1.3b, one of them says that it can run the audio in and out without need for an optical or coaxial cable which was why i wanted to update to that cable. Confusing this stuff is. What would happen if i got burn in on that pioneer? WOuld i have to call pioneer to come fix it? Also i read that plasmas don't last as long as they should. Ex....if it says it's 60,000 hours, they loose their color/vibrance at 30,000 half of it and are not as good anymore. Do i have to replace the gasses in it somehow? |

"Q. What is the difference between HDMI 1.3 and HDMI 1.3a, or 1.3b? For consumers, there is no difference between HDMI version 1.3 and 1.3a or 1.3b. These minor revisions to the specification typically relate to manufacturing or testing issues and do not impact features or functionality. In addition, HDMI Licensing, LLC is actively working with manufacturers to reduce confusion for consumers by de-emphasizing version numbers and focusing instead on product features and functionality. For Adopters, the latest HDMI Specification is v1.3a and the latest HDMI Compliance Test Specification (CTS) is 1.3c." http://www.hdmi.org/learningcenter/faq.aspx#112 Both plasmas and LCD screens under ideal conditions can last 10-20+ years. Anything can break. Just about every flat screen can be repaired in the first 7 years. After 7 years parts are hard to find for most brands and models. There are people that are still using the first generation 1999 Pioneer plasma screens and they are working fine (Of course the first generation had burn in issues). Burn in is not repairable if it happens. The 9th generation plasmas have all kinds of protection to prevent burn in. Burn in is almost a non issue on modern plasma screens. The KRP-500M comes with a 1 year in home warranty on parts and labor where as the Pioneer Elite products have a 2 year warranty. You can search online about the Orbitor feature or read the Pioneer instruction manual for more details. Viewing a display in the store will answer your questions about the Orbitor feature. The Samsung UNB8500 is a good display also. Last edited by HDTV1080P; 12-08-2009 at 12:29 AM. |

Yeah i agree, the pioneer i want because it's the best picture as everyone says but it's that burn in that worries me. I know u said if i leave it on orbiter it will shift it but then how do i get the picture to go back to the middle?
Also, what if i don't make the 100 hours or make a mistake and i end up watching something with a bar like channel 5 with that logo there and i forget about it and it's not 100 hours? THen i get the burn in most likely cause i didn't let it break in properly and u say i can't fix burn in which means i'm out 2000 bucks. That is why i'm hesitating and looking at the sammie 8500. I really want the best pic though as i've always bought lcds and never plasmas because of those issues. I don't want good anymore, i want the BEST!! Just don't want to make a mistake and get a burn in for forgetting to make sure i make the 100 hours without bar or labeled programs. Hey u must have a SERIOUSLY high iq man cause u know a lot lol. |

Product Brochure I have connected PRO-141FD's and PRO-101FD's for several family members and they started watching 4:3 material immediately even though I mentioned that for the first 100 hours or so to limit programs to 16:9 to avoid image retention. With the orbiter mode on mode 2 I have never seen so far any burn in issues with the Pioneer 9th generation plasmas. Another Orbiter example: A Pioneer 50 inch screen only has a 49.85 inch viewable screen. The picture shifting from left to right or right to left only moves around .15 inches over a 10-15 minute period. The 60 inch screen with a 59.58 inch viewable picture only movies around 1/2 inch max over a 10-15 minute period (Estimate only not totally accurate info on time and movement). This is hardly noticeable movement that can only be seen if you compare where the picture is every 10 or 15 minutes. The Orbiter feature can be turned off but hardly anyone is bothered by it. For those that leave a static image on the screen for several hours or days there is a video pattern built into the Pioneer plasma screens that can be run for a hour to help to get read of ghosting or minor burn-in issues. Yes in the past for older first generation plasma screens burn in was a major problem. But now plasma screens are almost as good as modern day CRT screens when it comes to burn in. Its been a long time since I have seen a CRT tube TV or CRT Front Projector have burn in. Both plasma and CRT technology has improved greatly in that negative area over the years. I remember back around 1999 this corporation that I use to work for ended up installing several first generation 4:3 480P Pioneer plasma screens running 24 X 7 with the network logo from CNN being burned into the screen. Those plasmas ran 24 X 7 for several years with CNN on 24 X 7. I said to myself I would never purchase a Pioneer plasma screen after seeing the burn in issue many years ago on their first generation models. Then when it came time to purchase a 1080P flat screen instead of going with a LCD model I ended up with a Pioneer plasma and so did my family members. Pioneer had the absolute best 1080P picture quality on their 2006, 2007, and 2008 models. The main deciding factor that changed my mind about Pioneer was that the burn in issue had almost completely became a non issue do to technology advances they made with the latest plasma generations. Many reviews mention that Pioneer plasmas are less likely to have burn in issues compared to other brands. Last edited by HDTV1080P; 12-08-2009 at 12:44 AM. |
