Default Subwoofer with/for Pioneer PRO-111FD

Has anyone used a subwoofer with the 111FD using the subwoofer outlet sans receiver. Until I have the financial resources to get a HTS I'm leaning towards using a subwoofer with the Elite and was wondering if anyone could give me some ideas, suggestions.

I don't see a problem with it. Just don't put the sub too close to the TV - don't want to have it bouncing around.

Your questions would be best answered in the Subwoofers section. Be sure to include a budget.

$300? Heck, get one of the Acoustic Audio HD-Sub12s. In Black. Then you'll have some money left over. Best bet until you can go up to $400-$600 in the budget range.

Someone with your TV will need to clarify this idea further, but the whole thing does sound a little weird on the surface. So, your tv has an actual subwoofer output jack? That's crazy. I'm not saying your wrong or anything, it just seems to me that if you did that and it actually worked, you'd be getting way too much bass, since you'd still be relying on just your tv's built in speaker for the rest of the sound spectrum.

Not necessarily. Provided you toyed with the gain knob on the sub, you could make it adequate and not overpowering. But this would also depend on the subwoofer. I know my crappy old 19" Proview LCD in my bedroom has a subwoofer out. I've used it, but if anything, it seemed to send a really weak signal.

Yes, Wafi. Just via a RCA RG6 shielded cable. Although I dunno exactly how it would sound, though. Or what kind of signal would be sent...it's an interesting idea to mess around with. I mean, you could always keep the sub for when you get an AVR.

If not the AA, the A2-300 is back at $350. Call the extra $50 shipping. It is not a feather-weight sub *points at 72lbs shipping weight*.

well i hava a 151fd used a sub thru the tvs sub out but as some ones stated it was really weak hardly noticeable guess the tv doesent have the amp power to drive a sub maybe one witha built in amp would work better?

If it's a powered sub, the TVs amp makes no difference - its just sending a signal to it. Your sub was unpowered? Then it would have never worked with a sub out, as it would have had only positive/negative terminals.

But yes, when I tried it, the signal was very weak. Had to turn the gain up ALL the way, and even then, it wasn't much.

Hmm sounds like I would be better off getting my finances together and getting a HT system.
