Default Samsung ln46a650 just lost its power supply

It's either that or most like its the capacitors. I was wondering how you would go about checking this? I havent' been able to find any guides on how to open this baby up. Any suggestions? My friend is an eletrical engineer who can replace the parts for me, but I need to get in and find out if it is the power supply or the capacitors.

Do I just unscrew the whole back?

Please help.

Thanks

I had mine go a while back. The tech did take off the whole back to take it out and replace it. It looked like just one part. It took him 5 minutes. I'm pretty sure lots of a650 owners are having power supply issues.

Yep it was an issue samsung admitted to. Do you know how they tried to make "good" they offered the first 50 people who submitted a ticket a free repair. WOW big whoopie. Can't believe the company is so cheap.

Wow, are you serious? I'm not sure I'd ever buy a TV from Samsung again. Don't get me wrong; I love my 52a650. But I had to go through 3 separate panels to get one that didn't have absurd flashlighting and clouding. And right after they installed the 3rd panel, that's when the power supply went. This all happened in the first 2 months of owning the TV.

It's been over a year since then, and I've had no trouble. That said, I'm not going to be shocked if this unit has another major issue in the next 2-3 years. I purchased the extended warranty because I just don't trust Samsung reliability.

Wasn't there a firmware update for the early models that would shut off by themselves?

Yeah but it doesn't do shit. My TV is going through the same problem. Samsung is absolute shit! I would never ever buy a TV through them. My wife works at Sears Call Center and she gets at least 10 calls a day for Samsung TVs, fridges, washers and dryers, etc. That whole company sucks the big one. I've had mine go 10 days out of warranty. How in the hell can my TV break down in little over a year while I have my Zenith CRT for 25 years without a problem??? Hmmmm. Not only that but Samsung will not acknowledge the fact that there is a problem with their TVs. Not only is this model affected but several(meaning a lot more than a handful) are affected with this problem. **** Samsung

Just fixed my TV for the big whopping huge price of........$5.28. That replaced 6 capacitors on the power source board. BTW it's not the voltage you should be upping but the Ohm Hours on the capacitor. Samsung apparently uses 1000 Ohr capacitors. I just replaced mine with the 10k Ohour ones.
