Default Have you seen Silent Hill the movie?

Just wondering what anyone who saw Silent Hill thought of it. I saw it and thought it was the best game based movie yet. It wasnt perfect but it was a really good start to what could be a good series of movies. I thought the visuals and sound were excellent. The sets were very true to the game as were the sounds and music. Also the camera angles and movements were right on with exact copies from the game angles. It is moody and atmospheric. Its bloody and disturbing and somethings that happen in it may shock and horrify you, but thats what the game did as well so it fits perfectly. The story confused me a bit as I am still not sure what actually happened at the very end and if it was the end or if it is going to be continued in a second movie. If anyone knows the answer to that or has any idea's please comment. Overall I loved the movie and cant wait to buy it on Blu-ray since Sony or Tri-star did make it.

Haven't seen it but the trailer does make it look very interesting. Your post makes it sound even more so like my kind of movie. And as you mentioned, it's a Sony title. I expect to pick this up on BD as well. Should be a day & date release with the DVD since Sony has said they are going to do that with every new release with BD.

From what I've read, most people who liked the trailer thought that the movie was pretty bad. Mostly because the trailer makes it look like a cheap horror-movie when it's actually a smart psychological dramathriller with some disturbing parts thrown in.

Sounds right up my street.

Oh, I should give a warning, Its a hard R rating and NOT at all suited for Children, My wife and I went and she even closed her eyes for several scene's due to the amount of horror and gore. That may not sound odd but for a person that fell asleep of boredom during the ending of "The Grudge" thats big. She told me she would not go to see Silent Hill 2 if there is one due to the images that stayed with her. But what really got me was that we were one of the first 2 people out and I was waiting for her to return from the bathroom and saw several children maybe 7 to 11 years old walk out of Silent Hill with their parents. I'm thinking, Are you stupid? What I just saw will bother me for a couple days and I love horror movies and you let your kids see that. Lets be responsible parents here.

Also, if you take my word for it and then dont like the movie, I will not refund your ticket price. lol.

Keep talking about the movie like that and I won't be waiting for the BD, I'll be heading to the theater tomorrow evening! Seriously, that sounds like my kind of horror film!

seeing it in the theater would be better than at home anyway, plus it wont stop you from buying it later on. actually it'd help you to make a more educated purchase decision ;P

I don't go to the movies alone so buying this on BD will likely be cheaper than seeing it in the theater. Also, the theater going experience has really gone downhill. You've got teenagers that don't shut up during the movie, cellphones going off, and even the theaters sometimes have the curtains covering part of the screen! Not forgetting that a couple of our nicer theaters frequently have the volume very low. I kid you not, and I live in a pretty nice neighborhood. People can be so rude and theater chains have no QC.

The curtains and sound thing are really bad and you have my encouragement to lodge a complaint if something like that happens.

Thankfully I've never known this to happen when I've been to the cinema.

Angry cinemas

Yeah know what you mean how bad movie theatres can be especially sticky floors, people resting there feet on back of chairs, talking, people rocking backwards in their seats, and people cutting in front of you to their seats. cell phones It's a real pain.
Movie theatres are never as good as some widescreen tvs
they should have 4k projectors and show High def movies and not those huge film reels
