Default When are the next cheaper BD players coming out???

I heard about a $400 samsung player that will be capable of playing both BD and HDDVD but I haven't heard a lot about these lately? Are there any other players coming out that y'all know about?

Question #2 ..... people have mentioned that a major event for the BD camp will happen in October that is really supposed to help BD sales....what is this? I assume that this will be the new $400 player but if somebody knows could you let me know? Thanks.

Oh yeah, I'm a new BD owner....I got 5 BD's in addition to the ones coming in the mail. I'm about to get a 32in HDTV in a week or two as well. Glad to join the BD camp

I don't believe any $400 dual format player has been announced. Only much more expensive dual format players have been mentioned.

Samsung recently announced their UDP-5000, which is a dual format unit with an MSRP of $1049. If that's what you call "cheaper", well... more power to you I guess. It's cheaper than the LG Super Multi Blu at $1099, but that's not saying much.

As for cheaper Blu-ray hardware, look for it going into Q4 2007. I think everyone is looking for some resolution to the format war by the end of the holidays, and it's certain that the BDA will be looking to score a knockout punch on HD DVD this Christmas.

Wishful thinking by HD DVD fans. The LG combo just got reduced to $999, and the Samsung combo player is expected to be over $1000.

If Samsung could make a $400 combo, they could make a much cheaper BD-only player.

piornner has a blu-ray drive for 299$ since june
and it will probly come in the spring the price cut (they wnat to flood the market with high quality and not cheap *cough*toshibas*cough*)
and at end of october if when all bd playing will ahve to have secondary video and audio decorder and 256mb or local storage. pritty much meaning that hd dvd only advantige is cheap players(in price and quality)

Your sources are mistaken. Samsung annoucned a player which was expected to cost $400 more than a Blu-ray player. The bit in bold is the important part most reporters missed out. :-)

Could be any number of things. The release of Spiderman (and other) movies? The end of the Profile 1.0 "grace" period?
