Default Disable PS3's startup chime?

It's always bugged me and I've searched everywhere in the options and also can't find the magic google keywords to figure this out. The startup chime when the PS3 is turned on plays at a much louder volume than Blu-ray movies, so if I turn the stereo on before turning the PS3 on, it's blasting out of the speakers right next to my ears (as I'm up close putting the movie in the PS3).

Am I just missing the option to disable it, or?

I doubt Sony will add a feature to disable that. It could happen, but I doubt it. It is one of the sounds accoiated with the PS3. Removeing it is like removing a logo. And I am sure they don't want you removing any logos if they have anything to do with it.

As of now, the only way around it would be to mute or turn on your stereo after the PS3.

It always takes a little time for the Denon to spin up, annoys me whenever I turn it on too late to actually hear the sound . It sets the mood for me.

You guys keep saying it's great, as if I've never experienced it before to know what I'm missing It's an annoyance to me that serves no purpose. Apparently it cannot be disabled, so I just have to live with it. I don't have to like it, though.

If you have ever had your stereo a little too loud when this starts up, it wakes up everyone when you are playing games late at night.

I wouldn't mind this feature.

Turning down your volume takes no time at all and if the chime bothers you, you're not likely to forget to do it before you power up the unit.

On my receiver, most Blu-ray movies I have the volume set to about -30db, some higher, some lower, depending on the title. The startup chime is comfortable at -44db on the receiver. It's freakin' loud when the receiver is still at -30db and the chime starts in.
