Default Can I disable resume play on PS3?

I detest this feature, I've hated it ever since the PS3 got it in an update. I can't find any place in the menu or options to disable it. I'm sick of trying out a scene in a movie over a month ago and then popping it in to watch with a friend and having it just start in the middle of a movie.

If anyone knows how to stop that from happening on the PS3, let me know.

Thanks.

You can disable it in the BD/DVD Settings.

I don't know how to disable it, but if you press triangle when the blu-ray is highlighted in the cross media bar you can select to play the disc from the beginning.

Which option? I've looked there (and I'm looking there right now) and I don't see an option that resembles that at all.

I suppose selecting "Play From Beginning" every time is my only option, but that's annoying because I always have my discs to just auto-start, but whatever

Hrm....I'll have to check when I get home. I know that I disabled it on my PS3.

OH! Do you have the latest firmware upgrade? I believe that there was one that was pushed down a few months ago that enabled this option.

I have the latest firmware and I don't see it. All I see is the auto-start on/off. Do you remember what menu it's supposed to be under? I basically just checked the BD/DVD menu and the System settings menu?

Edit: Actually, on the PS3 I was checking, I don't have 2.43 yet so I'm downloading that now to see if it was added with that update.

Edit 2: Checked my other one that does have 2.43 and don't see it on that one either.

This.

Although I wasn't fully updated, I went ahead and did so--no option. Still curious to hear results from other PS3 users.

I personally love this feature and would never consider turning it off..

usually (on other dvd players) you can hit the stop button twice and will negate resume play...not sure if this works for a ps3.

I have the opposite problem....I can't seem to enable resume play. I hit stop on the remote, and then hit play and it starts right at the beginning of the movie; BD or DVD. Annoying as anything, because I want it to start where I left off.

I'm running the 2.43 update as well, and it's one of the new 80gig PS3's.
