Default Most 'exciting' TV shows?

Hi all

Since Prison Break and 24 have finished I don't think I have managed to fill the pure entertainment/excitement type of TV, where even if the storylines are so implausible and farfetched, it still gets your pulse racing and at the end of the show you can't wait until next week for the new episode. Lost and Flashforward to a degree are a few other shows which gave me the same feeling.

There are still a lot of programs I enjoy such as Dexter, House, Breaking Bad, but not really the kind of shows for pure excitement. So I'm wondering what are your favourite shows which give you that feeling? I’m looking for something to replace that type of entertainment, and wondered which you all like.

Thanks

Not really sure as I find the slow talking drama's exciting as well as what you mentioned but I would try watching Spooks (MI-5 in the UK), Smallville, Hawaii Five 0 remake which I find exciting and not as dull as CSI, Roswell, primeval (UK show), Torchwood (UK), Doctor Who (UK),True Blood and Supernatural.

Sons of Anarchy
Justified
The Vampire Diaries (if you love the ridiculous, this is a fun show that nearly always ends on a cliffhanger each week)

Plan to get up to speed with Sons of Anarchy, before the new season starts.

I'm way behind.

on the latter two, even though I've only seen season one of The Vampire Diaries. I'll always be a season behind since I just recently got into it and will just watch it all on Blu-ray now, but oh well.

Can't comment on Sons of Anarchy since I haven't seen much of it yet, but I know WyldeMan will be happy to see what my latest purchase was.

Season 2 of Diaries is MUCH MUCH better than the first season. So you should check it out.

SOA is an amazing show and while I had some big problems with parts of Season 3, the finale more than made everything we had to go through worth it. I'm also sure that if I where to re-watch the season without all those week long breaks it would play much much better the second time around.

The Sopranos and Battlestar Galactica do to me what the OP describes. Check them out.

I definitely will. I'll be buying Season 2 of The Vampire Diaries when it comes out since I really enjoyed Season 1. Even though I could run through Season 2 quickly and then watch Season 3 on The CW, I'm actually glad I'm going to be watching the show on Blu-ray only.

I figured you'd like my latest purchase since I know Sons of Anarchy is your favorite show. My brother did say that Season 3 is kind of slow, but that's alright. I look forward to digging into Season 1 sometime in the near future. This will be another Blu-ray only show obviously.

Oh absolutely, BSG was one of the most intense shows I've ever seen. I was always yelling at the tv during the life and death moments, cause you genuinely cared for the characters and never knew who was going to live or die.

Yeah SOA fans had a real love/hate relationship with this past season, but I stuck it out knowing that Sutter would never disappoint the devoted followers and when you see the finale it will blow your mind with amazingness.

All this SOA talk has reminded me I really need to start watching it soon. Need a good series to start watching this summer after I finish my 24 marathon for the first time.

Very nice choices there too. I don't watch Stargate: Universe, but that's beside the point.

I probably won't see it for about two years when Season 3 is cheap, but I don't doubt my mind will be blown. I figure since I'll be watching this on Blu-ray only, I might as well keep waiting for each season to get cheap. I don't do that with every show I watch on Blu-ray, but since I'm this far behind already, it makes sense. I'm pretty happy with getting Season 1 for $19.99 before tax.

I don't blind buy anything, so I join netflix for a brief time if there's a show I absolutely feel I need to see. Or I find "other means" to see them.

Makes sense. We're just different in that regard. I do make sure there is a pretty good chance I will really enjoy it before I blind buy it though. I have Netflix and could have just streamed it from there, but I figured I might as well watch it on Blu-ray instead in this particular instance (especially since I got the season cheap). I usually only stream if I happen to miss an episode of a show I actually watch on television. Movies are something I stream even less of, but I guess I'm just spoiled there.
