I'd say DVD because I don't have to wait for the next episode. Plus, even though it sucks that you finish the episodes so quickly, I don't mind rewatching them.

Watching them on DVD is great, but I love watching my favorite shows live. I love discussing it with other fans of the show. A prime example is the Lost thread here on BluRay.com. The biggest drawback with watching it on DVD is having it spoiled by people that have already seen the season that you havn't seen yet. It happened to me on Buffy, Angel, and Alias. It did take a little away from the enjoyment of watching it. One of my friends watches Lost on DVD and I'm very careful not to spoil it for him.

"Do you prefer TV marathons on DVD or watching once a week? "
Neither, actually. I prefer DVD marathons, where I can tear right through them, back-to-back. That way, cliffhanger endings only leave me hanging for a minute or two. For shows that I am interested in, I usually wait for the DVD/BD realease and then just fly right through them. Only Lost gets my weekly, televised attention. I watch the new episodes each week for the shows I enjoy and usually pick up the dvd when it’s released.
Me & the wife enjoy watching episodes @ night after the kids go to bed so we just rotate through all of the seasons for a particular show then move onto another show until we cycle through all of them. Usually takes us a whole year to cycle through all of the seasons we have. |

The best shows are better absorbed once a week. I feel sorry for the people who missed out on watching Lost week after week. One of the best parts of that show was reading the commentaries and theories after each episode, building up tension and the mystery.
Marathon viewing is good for shows like lightweight comedies, where there is little continuity. |

Neither. Or marathon, depending on your definition.
I don't have cable or satellite (by choice) and watch all my "TV" via DVDs or Blu-rays. Any given night I watch 1-3 episodes of TV, mixing and matching between maybe 5-6 different shows. So, each week I end up watching maybe 2-4 episodes of each show I'm watching. |

Depends on the show. I have to get in the mood for certain shows that I have to TiVo them and watch all the episodes when I want to watch them-- Supernatural, Vampire Diaries, Fringe. There are shows that are a guilty pleasure that I watch them every week when they come on-- Gossip Girl, Glee, Nip/ Tuck (when it was on), and reality shows-- American Idol, Celebrity Apprentice, America's Next Top Model, dancing With the Stars.

I prefer marathons, although in my case I wouldn't consider it a marathon, because I usually only watch at most 1-2 episodes a day. I often won't start watching a show until after the second season because I'd prefer to watch the first couple seasons on DVD/Blu-ray. I recently did this with the first 3 seasons of Dexter, the first 2 seasons of Mad Men, and the first 4 seasons of The Wire. I am starting to watch the DVDs of Supernatural now. Plan on getting through the first 4 seasons by the end of the summer.

I feel the same. I will have marathons of seasons after I watched them on a week to week basis, but I've very rarely gotten into a show on DVD that I didn't originally watch week to week. The hour long serialized dramas sometimes have such a massive fallout on the weekly level that to just watch them all back to back for the first time, I'd think a lot of the excitement would just be lost in a hurry. But yeah I agree with sitcoms and lightweight comedies without continuity it's easy to watch them in a marathon cause they are their for laughs and little story development.
