Default Pioneer BDP-320 or Sony BDP-S1000ES

I recently bought the Sony BDP-BX57 (BDP-S570) at Costco and I also have the PS3 Slim. The BDP-BX57 is better than my experience I had with a defective BDP-S570 that I had a few weeks ago. Now I thinking of returning the BX57 because the dvd upscaling is just below the PS3 Slim dvd upscaling quality and the Netflix streaming quality is also better on the PS3.

I will be upgrading to a 3D tv when NO GLASSES are needed. I've been researching the Pioneer BDP-320 and the Sony BDP-S1000ES and I really don't need built-in Netflix streaming, because I could use my PS3 for that. Out of the 2 blu-ray players which one is better and why?

I can't speak for the sony, but I have the BDP-320 and am very happy with it. I went with it simply due to matching my Elite reciever, but didnt want to shell out tons of cash for the Elite player. So far I really like it. Its quiet, loading times arent that bad, although much longer than my PS3. I have it hooked up with Kuro link, so I can load a disc while watching tv, and as soon as the blu ray is loaded it switches over and starts playing so I dont have to stare at a loading screen. Features are decent, and cabinet design and build quality are exactly why I went with Pioneer all around. Hope that helps, the main reason I went with a seperate player is due to the true lossless audio the Pioneer offers over the PS3.

The PS3 will deliver lossless audio as well. Unless of course you want to see "TrueHD" or "DTS-HD MA" light up on your receiver, for that you'd need the PS3 slim (or a standalone or course).

Default BDP-S1000ES vs BD-C6500

Hello all, sorry to add this reply here but i dont yet have privelage to make new thread.

Hopefully somebody can help me with this decision. My question is simply, which would you get....the Samsung BD-C6500 for $224 or the BDP-S1000ES for $200.

The reason I am deciding between these two is 1. the price is around my budget and 2. I need a 5.1/7.1 analog hookup as I have an older receiver, and so basically rules out the new sony 570, or LG, or ps3 slim, or other more expensive units.

fairly equal in both (I assume): video/audio quality, wifi,

BDP-S1000ES Pros: cheaper, better build quality, looks nicer, comes with 4gig storage, 5 year warranty, componant video out, and coax audio out (i dont care about these last 2), DLNA Certified in ONLY photo (con)

BD-C6500 pros: DLNA Certified in audio/video/photo, video streaming software (pandora, netflix, etc)

So essentially, is the 50 dollar price difference, and better build quality worth it over DLNA certified, and internet streaming or should I sacrifice these useful features given everything else being equal?

Any feedback would be appreciated, especially those that have experience with these units.

For the money, I'd get a Pioneer BDP-320 (in fact, I did buy one recently!). Upconversion is reportedly on par with the Oppo. That is, if you're not worried about streaming.

thanks for the reply.

the pioneer looks really nice, and can be gotten for a very reasonable price now.

However the pioneer lacks wifi, and any type of DLNA ability. Does it have any advantages over the ES unit, besides a cheaper price tag?

Go with the Sony BDP-S570. It's only $250 and has a lot of features.

He said he already got the S570. My dad has 1000es, and im telling you its one of the best bluray players out there IMO. Trust me man, this player squeezes everything out of the blurays in terms of PQ. I've been REALLY considering getting one myself. And for the 250$ price tag its worth it !

I had the BDP-BX57 (S570) a few weeks ago and returned it to Costco. I recently sold my PS3 slim and a few days ago I ordered the BDP-S1000ES. I received it yesterday and this blu-ray player is a lot better than the BDP-S570 minus the fast loading times and video streaming. The loading times on the BDP-S1000ES aren't that bad and for netflix streaming I use my Roku HD-XR.

Just be patient and wait for the new models coming out this summer and fall, most should be HDMI 1.4 and 3D compatible, if you don't want to wait when buy a bd player now of your choice.
