PS3 Controller with Rumble in Development

I hope this turns out to be true.

Force Feedback and rumble are not the same thing.

I don't really care if a new controller comes out with both tilt and rumble because I never played with rumble in the dual shock 2 controller and I wouldn't buy a new controller for the ps3 that had rumble in it. I do agree that sony should do something about the rumble. I think that it would be best to allow us to upgrade our controllers at no charge for those of us that all ready have a ps3 or for anyone that doesn't have a ps3 to choose which kind of controller to get, one with rumble or one without rumble. There should be an option to turn the rumble off.

You know what, I'm not a huge fan of rumble either. I've heard a lot of people though complain about how they wish the PS3 controllers had rumble. This is good news, can only improve the PS3's image

I hope SCE also incorporates the Tag gun technology so on certain games, you'd have to be extra careful not to get a jolt.

I still don't see the need for rumble on the current controller. Any other controller that mimics the actual thing that exist in real life, like the gun, is another thing.

It doesn't have to work like that though. In Shadow of the Colossus, when the ground shakes and you feel the rumble in your hands, you feel more connected. In Gran Turismo you get more feedback about what you're driving over and how likely you are to lose control.

One thing they could improve is the noisyness of rumble for the new pad. Rumble can immerse you more but also take you back out when the rumble isn't matched with something loud in the game.

I can't wait for rumble to come back for PS3 controllers! That was the only thing lacking in giving me a complete gaming experience. Next-gen rumble, six axis cotroller, force feedback, oh man I can't wait!!

You'll be waiting a while for rumble to happen, but if we keep on sony's back about rumble, I'm sure that they'll figure out a way for their controller to shake.

I dont see how they would put force feedback in a controller. A joystick or steering wheel definately.

They probably couldn't attach a large or strong enough magnet to the underside of the analog stick cups for good force feedback you're right. But we're no FF experts, who knows.

Dual frequency rumble as before will be good but I hope they take the opportunity to do something better.

Yea, FF would be difficult with such a small controller. I never used rumble either, but it would be nice to have the option for those that do enjoy it.

It would be funny if we had a price cut and a controller with rumble out at the same time.

Sony settled the lawsuit and lifted their restriction on the PS3 rumble. Technically I guess 3rd party products can include rumble now, but I imagine everyone's going to wait to make sure they support it the same way Sony does with 1st party.

I haven't read anything new about the rumble issue. It's possible that sony make be working on a prototype controller and just hasn't made an announcement yet. Why exactly can't you include tilt and rumble in the same controller? If you figure out why not, then maybe you can work on a solution. There are breakthroughs in technology all the time so maybe sony can come up with one for their controller.

They can...

http://www.immersion.com/gaming/video_pc/next-gen/

AFAIK..they are just working on battery life issues at this point - Tilt+Rumble+Bluetooth requires more juice.

And it looks like rumble will be much better if those reviewers are telling it like it is..

Could you put two batteries inside the controller? One to power the controller itself and the other to power the rumble?

I say bring it all on

Besides, those controllers can be charged via the supplied USB charging cable so no problems on battery life. Yes maybe more frequent charging....but at least the charging part is easy.

Time to bring it on. :P

The only bad thing about rumble it added alot of weight to the
controller, that really wasn't necessary.

I had completely forgotten about rumble after 2 weeks.
