Default Will We Ever See “I Love Lucy” on Blu-Ray and Will We Want?

Like most children, I enjoyed summers because the hard bedtimes of the school years were not enforced and late-night television was an interesting mixture of strange new programs. As a result of these viewings, I developed a strong love of old televisions shows when I found “Nick at Nite” during its first few years (back when mostly everything was black and white). There are so many old televisions shows I want to be able to show my children when they are growing up, so they do not have to watch strangers marrying or celebs dancing, and it would be nice to see these shows in the best conditions. Is that possible? Can people upgrade the videos from these old shows?

I believe that "I Love Lucy" was one of the first (if not THE first) television series to be recorded on film. If these reels have been well-preserved, they should look great on blu-ray. I don't know if the audio can be improved (I'm sure a few posters will want a 7.1 mix), but it was mostly dialog anyway.

Not only is I Love Lucy on DVD, but each episode and television movie has been digitally restored by Gregg Oppenheimer. Gregg Oppenheimer is the son of Jess Oppenheimer who was executive producer of I Love Lucy. G Oppenheimer also supervised the creation of new special features for the DVD releases.

Default Chocolate Factory

The best episode was when Lucy & Ethel worked in the chocolate factory. I saw that episode again about 2 months ago and had to keep pausing it b/c I had tears coming out of my eyes from laughing so hard!
I WOULD love to have that show on Blu-Ray. It would be great to see it in hi-def (or I guess it would just be 'higher' definition than the DVD).

I'm hoping for a Blu release too. I think it would look great.

I wouldn't hold my breath for a 7.1. Heck, Star Trek TOS surprised me with its 7.1. I just need loseless.

I'd also like I Love Lucy on Blu-Ray not just because of the added quality but mostly to be able to have the complete show in only a few disks rather than fumbling with so many dvd boxes and having to eject and replace disks in the dvd player so often.

You do realize that you fit the same number of HD episodes on a Blu Ray as you did SD episodes on a DVD, if they give this show the HD treatment you will still have the same number of discs.

I'm freaking out excited that Twilight Zone season 1 is going to be on Blu, but I Love Lucy would make me even happier. I already cherish my complete series on DVD but I'd do anything for an upgraded Lucy!
