To my fellow australians do you feel a little bit left out...
[I]As of December 2007, according to Gfk, more than 102,000 Blu-ray movies have been sold, compared to less than 18,000 HD DVD, giving the ratio of approximately 5:1 in favour of Blu-ray. As of December 2007, according to Gfk, 2241 Blu-ray Disc players have been sold (excluding 100,000 PlayStation 3 sold), compared to 609 HD DVD players (excluding 2461 Xbox 360 HD DVD add-ons). As of January 2008, according to Gfk, 155,000 PlayStation 3 consoles have been sold in Australia. (From Wiki) And thats just australia... now i know that my collection of Blu-Ray movies is nothing to shout about, ive been tryin to support Blu as much as possible but i live in Shepparton, In a Town where there is only about 25 different Blu-movies to choose from. I've Been to melbourne to JB and bought some there cause they have alot more, but what i would really like to see is Australia catching up to the US, If we had almost half of what the US had i would have so many more, PLEASE BLU SHOW AUSTRALIA SOME LOVE, trust me it will be well appreciated ![]() |

tell me about it brother!!!, Lionsgate dont even release blu rays here and Warner have seemed to have stopped releasing to, Troy was supposed to be out here months ago but I havnt seen it anywhere and ive only seen 2 of the 5 harry potter movies in stores ANYWHERE, ive noticed on the ezydvd website they say "distribution delays" but its been going on for a while now. Ive basically bought every movie that I want in store here so now I buy all my blu's from amazon, just check that they are able to be played in an aussie blu ray player here http://bluray.liesinc.net/ and then you will know they work, ive just ordered 3:10 to Yuma, Resident Evil, Resident Evil Extinction, 2001 A Space Oddessy, Full Metal Jacket Delux Edition and The Shining and I cant wait! Ive also got Cars in a previous order and any aussie reading this should go online and order it now, its a MUST HAVE 5 star PQ and AQ, I would have also gotten Rattatouille but unfortunately thats region locked and wont play on aussie machines and it isnt coming out here until around MARCH/APRIL

I'm with you guy's
The way i handle the problem is just import them in from the USA via Amazon, they might be slightly more expensive but worth it. I bought and imported the ps3 from the USA and it plays well on the tv. I see that blockbuster is now getting more blu-ray titles in for rental, so maybe the tide is turning for us??????? ![]() ![]() |

I agree with everything you all say - the uptake by retailers in Australia is especially poor. All mine are bought via local stores or eBay. What's the best way to ensure BD's bought overseas (say Amazon UK) will work on my PS3?

Amazon is my best friend right now. It's easier to pick up whatever I want and at prices lower than here.
JB's 2 for 1 have allowed to me get the discs I want up to now. But the selection of new releases is quite bare. March 6 looks like a big day for BD when we get alot of Fox BD's such as ID4, Master & Commander. Ratatouille is also out accordin to ezydvd. |

dere r not enough choices when u c da titles dat r availible in stores for a new customer or 1 who doesnt shop online some support from all da studios will be appreciated by customers like myself (cause i cant have a credit card) and i luv blu so would buy most of da titles when dey come out ( looks at warner specially) sorry 4 da short forms typing on my ps3 |

Why pay $A32 for the simpsons from Amazon, when you can pay $A40 for it in Australia. Want The Terminator (MGM) locally? Sorry, not even sold in Australia. But rest assured, if it comes out, it won't be cheaper than the $A23 it costs from Amazon. |

Videoezy sells BD's and the prices aren't bad. Range depends on each store though.
