Default HBO's "Ballers" (Season 2)

Quote:
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is heading to TV full-time.

HBO has picked up to series Ballers, the dramedy starring the Pain & Gain alum, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

Half-hour comedy Ballers examines the lives of a group of former and current football players.

The comedy hails from Stephen Levinson (Entourage), who penned the script and executive produces alongside Mark Wahlberg, Johnson, Hiram Garcia, Evan Reilly and Peter Berg, the latter of whom will direct the pilot. Dany Garcia is on board as a co-EP. HBO is producing the series with Wahlberg's Closest to the Hole Productions, Levinson's Leverage Entertainment and White Buffalo Entertainment.

Ballers continues the premium cable network's relationship with Levinson and Wahlberg, whose credits also include HBO vehicles Boardwalk Empire, How to Make It in America and In Treatment.

Johnson is no stranger to the sports world, having played college football before kicking off his World Wrestling Federation career and becoming one of the sport's best and most renowned personalities.

Same here.

While I don't get HBO, I'll keep an eye out for a Blu-ray release.

Just ask a friend or family member who has HBO and borrow their log-in to use HBO Go. That's the best way to go than waiting until late 2015 or 2016 to watch this on home video.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I'm alright. I watch a lot of TV between home video and when it airs, so I can hold off on some things.

Does Mark Wahlberg actually contribute anything on the creative end in his executive producer role for all these HBO shows?

Is that really going to be the title? It makes it sound like a teen comedy FX would foist on us...

Love the Rock. Cool that he's headlining a TV series, especially on HBO.

I have HBO, so I'm looking forward to it.

I wish it wasn't a sports themed TV series. But, I'm sure his charisma will make it work.

Since they won't start filming until later this year, I assume this won't premiere until early 2015 at the soonest.

Also, don't forget that Johnson has a new TNT reality series coming this summer.

I get the feeling Season 1 had a nice wrap up because they weren't sure if there was going to be a Season 2.

Just started watching this show. Entertaining but mostly just a bunch of fluff.

If Reggie doesn't have an epiphany or die in a horrible accident, then Vernon deserves to lose everything. But Reggie is a reality for many athletes in real life, so I guess that's one thing the show has going for it.

A lot of the timeline doesn't add up to me though. If Ricky is already one of the greatest WRs of all time in only eight seasons, then he's still putting up huge numbers and would not have been cut outright or a risk to be signed ecause plenty of teams would give him a chance even after that fight. I originally thought Charles was some journeyman OL who played a few years and was out of the game, but then he lists off all these Hall of Fame caliber accolades so why is he working at a car dealership? I never heard anything about him losing his money and he has a stable home and family life, as well as an ass-kicking wife.

Does Fox have anything to do with Ballers? It is produced by HBO, and HBO Studios handled the first season DVD/Blu-ray release. In addition with season 1 it was available in digital in October 2015 but the DVD/Blu-ray release wasn't announced until March 2016 and wasn't released until June.

not a thread for it but "Vice Principals: Season One" is also only getting a digital HD release, no physical version in sight. HBO is on a role

Until it's closer to the start of the next season it's hard to know if it will be getting a physical release because with their comedies HBO always releases them digitally several months before a physical release. They time the physical release until close to the start of the new season, so while Ballers and Vice Principals are getting digital releases now if they come out on Blu-ray/DVD it won't happen until next year close to the time the new seasons premiere.

I mean where else could they have taken it? They escalated things so much each season they would have to have run for president or something.

I would've liked to have seen more of the gaming culture and how well Spencer would've handled being an embattled owner. Not to mention Chuck becoming the president of the Dolphins.
