Fans of rare neo-noir, long-thought-lost thrillers and the Warren Oates completists among us owe Cinelicious a huge thanks for this announcement. The exciting story can be found in their studio page thread linked below.

Fantastic news.
My straight-laced mother "accidently" saw this film during its brief run in 1960. It was the co-feature with another Citation film, FIVE BOLD WOMEN (the latter film may have inspired part of Tarantino's THE HATEFUL EIGHT). My mother was scandalized by PRIVATE PROPERTY. So, of course, it became a kind of "forbidden fruit" to me when I was 9 years old. Since 1960, however, the film totally disappeared, and I have never had the chance to view it. I will certainly purchase the Blu-ray on day one One question: will a 4K restoration Blu-ray disc play on standard Blu-ray decks? Last edited by Jobla; 03-19-2016 at 11:23 PM. |

PRIVATE PROPERTY also blazed the trail for the early-mid 1960's suburban thrillers, such as KITTEN WITH A WHIP and LADY IN A CAGE.

I recall a magazine article from the early-mid 1990's, which I think was published in Film Comment magazine or something comparable. The article was all about "lost" films not available on home video. Most of the films discussed in the article had major studio origins, such as HELEN OF TROY (1955) and PORGY AND BESS.
Surprisingly, the article included a paragraph on PRIVATE PROPERTY, lamenting it's sheer inaccessibility since 1960. |

A poster on another forum who attended the film's UCLA screening last year said that Oates is good, but that Corey Allen is "volcanic" in this film.
