It would be epic if they did get released on Blu-ray, but it likely will never happen. Fox only released them on DVD once and that was back in 2004. The DVD is OOP and isn't cheap! I always loved these films as well. I used to watch them all the time as a kid!

I actually like to see Disney or Fox (I say that because they actually distributed the first Ewok film at least internationally) release these on Blu-ray myself and this year considering both movies are now respectively 30 and Episode VII hit theaters this December.

I'd buy these in a second. I remember watching these on tv when they first aired. Especially the first one my family watched with the tv volume all the way down because they ran a simulcast on the radio and my dad had the stereo wired around the room with 4 huge wall speakers (early surround sound lol)
Until then my dvd set will have to do |

Very glad to see there's still some interest in Ewoks: Caravan of Courage/The Ewok Adventure. Even though I was a huge SW fan at the time (and still am), I missed this on TV when it first came out in Fall 1984, though I caught it on VHS a while later.
Though COC was slow-moving at times, I thought the stop-motion animation creatures (Gorax, giant Spider, etc.) were actually very good for the time period, especially since this was a made-for-TV movie. However, I was much more impressed with the excellent follow-up TV movie, Ewoks: Battle for Endor that came out a year later in Fall 1985 (which I saw when it was released). This was truly a great movie, [Show spoiler] The rest of the movie flowed very well, with the capture of Cindel and the Ewoks by those monstrous creatures, the introduction of the old man (W.B.) & Teek, and the Battle at the end. I also really liked the main bad creature (can't remember his name), and the witch/sorceress who helped him. This film definitely had a very strong fantasy-like feel to it, and reminds me somewhat of '80's fantasy films like The Dark Crystal, Legend, etc. Another interesting element re: these two tele-films is that they came out at a time when SW fandom was slowly losing it's spark - After ROTJ came out in 1983, with no new movies on the horizon, there wasn't a lot of new material out there. So, I would credit these two films with keeping the Saga alive on some level. A Blu release of both (in one set) would be highly appreciated; the current DVD set is not only OOP & expensive, but the color is somewhat dull - on an HD set. I'm sure a Blu of these would be an improvement. |

I was thinking about these two movies recently, and figured there would be a thread here for them.
I enjoyed watching these as a kid, and missed out on the DVD release (seemed to be there and gone pretty quickly) so a blu-ray release would be greatly appreciated. |

I wish I'd grabbed that DVD when I had the chance. I know I watched The Battle For Endor when it premiered but think that was the only time I saw it, so I don't remember anything about it. However, Caravan of Courage we recorded on VHS when it aired, so I used to watch it over and over (and over and over) growing up. Still have that copy, too, but haven't seen it in years now.

Now that Lucasfilm is into spin-offs, it'd be a great opportunity to rerelease the Ewok movies. Something like this:

A friend of mine put a lot of effort into putting together his own Despecialised Editions of the OT. Just to be through, he upscaled both of the Ewok movies to HD and stuck them on as an extra.
I'm happy enough with them, as I'm pretty sure they won't see the light of day otherwise. |
