We need to request replacement discs for Leprechaun! - Blu-ray Forum

Several of us have noticed that the picture is screwed up on Leprechaun 1.
The picture isn't proportional. It's been stretched, cropped, and warped.
There is also a noticeable mess up around the 18 minute mark in the Leprechaun In The Hood Documentary. I've contacted the company who made the documentary at : mfelsher@redshirtpictures.com .
He claims he'll let Lions Gate know about the mistake. When I asked about the picture being messed up I was ignored.
Many have said they are just happy to have a HD release. I on the other hand have been waiting many many many years to see this in widescreen and feel like I was punched in the face. Who in their right minds stretches, and then pushes down the picture to fit the frame? Cropping is one thing. I can live with that, but this is just ridiculous.

I also have heard that it is stretched. I'm not a fan of the entire series, but considered picking it up mainly for the first movie. However, if the picture is distorted in any way it's definitely a 'no-sell' for me.

It's not a major issue that will prevent you from enjoying the film in any way, but it's something that exists. I do wonder why there was no widescreen master created. The blu ray looks good, but I bet a true presentation would look even better.

Put me amongst the group that's happy to have them. Frankly, I think it's a minor miracle many of these even made it to Blu-ray. The difference in sharpness and detail in the screen caps from DVD to Blu-ray is phenomenal, IMO. I'm satisfied.

I think it's if anything more likely that the proportions are off on the ancient 4:3 video master. Nothing to see here, imo.

The image of the German Blu-ray that came out this week looks kind of like your "manipulated" image:

It seems this was done on purpose as the Lionsgate logo at the beginning still fills out the complete screen without any black bars at the sides.

Looks like this is the place to be considering all the rude responses I've gotten in the hot deals thread.

I really wish they would fix this because I'd very much like to pick this up

Not sure what was so "rude" about the responses in the Hot Deals thread.

The responses in this thread seem far "ruder" to me.

Honestly, the likelihood of this being fixed is sadly nonexistent. If another label - say, Shout - were to come out with their own version, I could see it happening then. Such a release seems unlikely to me, however. But stranger things have happened, so you never know.

This includes UV codes. Is that version OAR or does the same issue exist there too?

Can't say I noticed when watching it and definitely don't care enough about Leprachaun to get upset about it. I got the set because I kind of liked the third movie on Netflix only to find that's by far the best one there is.

Have any of the more recent boxsets been fixed? I see Walmart sells an exclusive set.
If I recall correctly, 1-4 were all improperly stretched.
The digital versions on Itunes and such aren't stretched. So, IMO, this was nothing more than an authoring error that's been completely ignored.

Considering this whole set only set me back $10.61, and I still, haven’t dug into it, I can live with the imperfections. When the wells dry for bigger horror franchises to milk on the UHD format, I’m sure some of these Leprechaun films may get an upgrade.

Unless that actress has an abnormally tiny head, the DVD is squashed. The blu-ray looks correct.
