I know it took a beating from critics and audiences all but ignored it, but I loved it. Can't wait to own it!

I am shocked it made it out alive with bonus features on the release. I will buy it I love 8 1/2, and yeah it took a beating, but I am sure we've seen worse.

I would've never guessed the film would have tanked like it did.

Also, it was a remake of "8 1/2", and critics agreed that the character of Guido was...pretty much of a despicable unsympathetic jerk in that movie as well.

(Which was one reason it didn't survive the Christmas Avatar Wars where Sherlock Holmes did.)

The Guido in the stage version is a charmer. It's too bad that they changed him to be a brooding mess.

Re: the Featurettes...they're probably the same ones that were released on YouTube already.

What the hell are you talking about? She's the best singer in the film. She's not a professional or anything, but horrible? FAR from it!

This was my most anticipated film of the year, and it was pretty bad. I was SO disappointed. That being said, I'll still probably get it when it gets to around $10, if only for Penelope's number (even though it's edited to shit).

It was definitely better than critics gave it credit for, good music, good cast and based on a Fellini film, pretty tough to go wrong with those elements. I'll be buying it for sure.

The DVD version features an anamorphic widescreen presentation of the film with Dolby Digital 5.1 audio. As extras, the disc will feature a Commentary Track with Director Rob Marshall and Producer John DeLuca, as well as eight Featurettes and three Music Videos.

The Blu-Ray version offers up a 1080p high definition transfer, supported by a DTS 5.1 HD Master Audio track. I know this movie was a box office dud, but I still would like to see it, I suppose to see how bad it REALLY is, or to see if teh critics missed it again.

It wasn't that bad...

I actually enjoyed it.

But obviously, compared to "8 1/2", it just didn't stack up.

I'd blame audience disinterest and an unsympathetic main character for the failure of the film. It's not bad. It's just not mainstream.

Uhhh, this is pretty mainstream.

And yes, it is bad.

That's coming from a HUGE musical fan.

I own the Canadian version found here:
https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Nine-Blu-ray/10890/

I don't think there is a difference that I'm aware of other then the box art. On the topic of how it looks visually on Blu I thought it looked great, I didn't find it hard to see due to darkness - as the review you posted states - at all.
